We continue to take DT’s statements seriously, in part, of course, because he is the “president.”
What is missing from almost every account of the current USPS story is that in 2006, a bill (H.R. 6407) was passed that requires the USPS to pre-fund the retirement of its employees seventy-five (75) years in advance, i.e., for those yet to be born. Certainly, COVID has lessened sales for the USPS, but nothing like what this provision has done, and is doing. The bill (introduced by a Republican, of course) was introduced and passed within two weeks.
Exactly, putting the USPS head in the financial guillotine started long before Trump stumbled into office.
Privatization - one of many issues neoliberals and neoconservatives love together.
