Let Us Again Be Inspired to Ban Nuclear Weapons

Let Us Again Be Inspired to Ban Nuclear Weapons

Alice Slater

The stirring condemnation of nuclear weapons by Pope Francis today at the United Nations and his call for their prohibition and complete elimination in compliance with promises made in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), signed by the U.S. in 1970, 45 years ago, should give new momentum to the current campaign to start negotiations on a ban treaty.

The inconsistencies are glaring as is the hypocrisy. The most heavily-armed nations that go on to spread armaments far and wide (led by the U.S.'s criminal M.I.C.) lecture others on what is allowable under the banner of "peace."

So long as patriarchal governments set up top-down systems of power, they will follow the mode of Dominators. Law is moot when it's really all about "might makes right."

Fortunately, all over the world citizens are opposing the transnational takeover of all arable land, fresh water, forests, and PRECIOUS natural resources... those that took a helluva lot more time to assemble than a bunch of logarithmic numbers on Wall St. henchmen's computer screens.

A reckoning has begun.

Most citizens want a departure from war as norm, theft of workers via laws and procedures writ by the 1%, and endless resource decimation.

With The Pope speaking out, and Jeremy Corbyn, Greece's leader trying to oppose the German central banksters, Spain's Indignados and growing Socialist youth movement, Sanders speaking up about most of these issues inside the U.S... and indigenous South American leaders doing likewise, evidence of a beginning sea change "to the business of carnage as usual" is in evidence.

Paradigm Shift Happens.

Watch for falling debris.

I seriously doubt that we can ban nuclear weapons any more than we can ban any other weapon. I think that the best we can hope for is to put them under UN control.

We must do away with Nuclear Weapons, or Nuclear Weapons will do away with us. It is only a matter of time, and the clock is ticking.

Let Us Again Be Inspired to Ban Nuclear Weapons

We, the people, are inspired. The problem is a few idiots, also known as statesmen.

Nuclear Weapons are satanic. Weapons of Genocide.

Satanic. I use the word specifically.
