'Major Win for Environment': Bill to Ban Fracking in Ireland Moves Forward

A bill in Ireland to ban hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, passed the first stage of approval on Thursday as lawmakers voted it through the country's House of Representatives (Dáil Éireann).

In my observation, after years of visiting CD, an article has to somehow be about the USA or involve the USA before the denizens of CD take any interest in it. On those times when it isn't and they do, the comments will switch the topic to being about the USA.

Ireland isn't known for its environmental consciousness or as an island nation having a vision of what kind of country they would like to be - unlike Scandinavian countries. They all too often follow the US lead. Thus Ireland cannot see the dangers of CETA for their sovereignty as Belgium can..
