When civilians are killed, media reaction is often contingent upon who did the killing and why. Instead of blanketly condemning such attacks, the bombing of civilians can be implicitly justified if those civilians were in the wrong place at the wrong time—say, in a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan, or, more recently, in a neighborhood in Lebanon.
As for the bombing of Dresden?

I can not say here in public what I hope befalls Mr. Everett Stern. I know that seems to make me no better than... But just think: that a-hole could soon join the other a-holes now festering in Wa-shit-on(us).
I am completely at a loss to understand how that bastion of the infamous liberal media, the NYT, could consistently put out food for hawks on the wing.
