Military and Energy Company Officials Arrested for Murder of Berta Cáceres

Military and Energy Company Officials Arrested for Murder of Berta Cáceres

Lauren McCauley, staff writer

Authorities have arrested four suspects in the assassination of environmental and indigenous rights activist Berta Cáceres, the Honduran attorney general announced on Monday.

Adding credence to suspicions that Cáceres' killing was politically-motivated, among those arrested were Honduran military officials as well as an employee of Desarrollos Energéticos (or DESA), the private energy company behind the Agua Zarca dam, which Cáceres fiercely opposed.

Wow, brave Attorney General in Honduras! They know who they're up against and still bring charges.

This all remains to be seen. What they will do very often to head off public outrage is to make such arrests. The case against those arrested is usually very weak but they will put on a show at the trial as if they try to establish guilt.

The trial drags on. It found the evidence circumstantial and the case dismissed and those accused exonerated. The press than tries to make the case that because certain individuals that worked for the military and or corporation were exonerated, by extension the Military and the Corporation are exonerated.

In other words I would wait and see how this ends.

Here is a blow by blow description of the unfolding of the Honduran Military coup d'é·tat by Alexander Main in CERP's "The Americas Blog" from September 2015. Looking through purloined and otherwise acquired State Department memos and emails, there were some obvious differences of opinions among some HRC underlings and HRC with her determination to support the Honduran presidential placement of the Italian carpetbagger Micheletti. Hillary, and her boyfriend Lanny Davis, prevailed in not calling the "thing" a coup and ramming through the plan for a new government engendered by the coup makers which the rest of the OAS, other than the US and the US ass licking and narco state Colombia, strongly objected to.

Here it is - a good read. One of those Hillary gems I keep a record of.
