'Mind-Blowing Abuse of Power': Walmart Spied on Workers With FBI, Lockheed Martin's Help

Nadia Prupis, staff writer

Retail giant Walmart enlisted the help of a private military contractor and the FBI to spy on workers pushing for a $15 hourly wage and organizing Black Friday protests in 2012 and 2013, newly released documents (pdf) reveal.

The unity of corporation and state.
Unlawful use of the state apparatus by state and corporate actors.
The infringement and trampling of civil liberties guaranteed by the constitution.
Coercion by said actors to stifle legitimate democratic dissent.
The state's quiet and cooperative acquiescence to said criminality.
Wow - that's a lot of check marks beside fascism.
How many check marks need to go beside fascism before the American and Canadian people disempower this antidemocratic demon?

That pretty much says it all. Despicable.

It is not a surprise that Walmart would do such a thing. It says something about our government, and who they represent, for them to participate in spying on the companies employees.

Sometime you have to fight fire with fire. The employees way outnumber the employer in this case. The people who work for Walmart are in a far better position to spy Walmart than Walmart is to spy on them. Collectively they could gather enough information to not only wreck the business but to possibly put some people in prison.

If the narcissistic hoarding dreg Waltons had the goddamned money to hire Lockheed Martin to spy on their workers then they sure as hell have the money to pay them $15 an hour! Those of us who consider ourselves to be 'progressive definitely need to stop spending ANY money at this worthless business!

So who's going to investigate and prosecute the FBI for spying on the very people they are supposed to work for?

They claim we're all would-be terrorists--environmental and civil rights activists first, now Wal-Mart employees fighting for a living wage? What next, Grannies for Gophers?

"Of course we will have fascism in America but we will call it democracy!" --Huey Long

This is only surprising to those who don't understand that corporate control over the state is a textbook definition of fascism.

Added to this those Wal mart employees that kindly contribute buy that product at Wal Mart to donate. More profits for the Waltons.

Disgusting to the extreme.

Although I agree with your post. I'm sad to say that we don't put rich people in prison in this country. Prison is reserved for the middle class, the poor and the mentally ill.
