One day the collective will realize that there are certain persons who do not belong in the USA.

Mnuchin escaped prison by bribing then Calif AG Kamala Harris. What do you expect from a grifter guilty of many multiple counts of bank fraud?

EVERY ONE of the phucking Fascist bastards needs to be run to ground and thrown in jail.
They ALL need to be made examples to prevent this from happening again.

That, of course, assumes that we ever get the chance. I’m no so sure that we will

“Off with their heads.”

See, there is a logical solution to every problem.

Do you have links to establish this? I do know that she declined to prosecute him (have seen docs to that effect via The Intercept), but bribery is a new one.

Devos’ Bro is a murdering mercenary, an absolute war criminal. These are not just fuck-ups. These are hand-picked maggots. Oil Nazis. Turn up the heat!!! We could fill Guantanamo with taxpayer-funded leeches and murderers.
Have a nice weekend!

The practice of doing this began in the 1990s, so it was likely due to some change during the Clinton Administration. The changes also made it impossible to discharge student loan debts by bankruptcies.

Since then the amount of student loans in default - does anybody know if it fell or not? It seems the amount thats outstanding is huge. Its particularly cruel given the rising amout of global outsourcing of decent jobs. Leaving people without income, despite having skills and being willing to work, many have no real options, Imagine what it must feel like to be buried in debt and never even be able to get a decent job with that education, but still be stuck paying back the loan for your entire life.

Some young people have evidently been moving out of the country to parts of the world where they can get jobs and live under the radar, safe from having their wages garnished. Although they probably will have to pay it off eventually. One of the goals of making everything cashless is so that people cannot do that. Even simply traveling on a toll road or buying some dog food will require a positive balance or a high interest microloan. BTW, they made loan forgiveness, UBI, and postal banking impossible with GATS. Part of the WTO in 1995. It also blocks many other services unless they are ‘supplied as an exercise of governmental authority’ This makes the market more stable and welcoming for foreign banks and insurers, who get an entitlement to do business they can depend on.

It already has, it wants the millions of people who don’t have tons of cash out, as soon as possible.

It doesnt want to invest tax money in public education because it views us as a bad investment, due to our ‘unrealistic expectations’ If we graduate, we will cost too much to employ, so why educate us?

Its totally wrong.

Neoliberal Democrats who demand my vote but who bend over backwards to trade my country’s future away - hock our children’s futures away for the worst possible reasons, like higher drug prices, longer drug patents, evergreening, are thieves who will never get my vote, no matter how many endorsements they get. the US will never be the corporate state they want.

Consent cant be manufactured, it has to be earned. We need to exit GATS now, so we can vote for progressive policy again. We’ve been misled very very badly. We need to immerse ourselves in the awful truth.

I sent my tax return in by mail on March 1-----it is June and have not got my money back----I call but no one is there?-----guess they are all at home------------last year they tried to keep half my return-------a very nice lady said maybe we can negotiate----- No this is what I’m suppose to get back----and they were already keeping 2/3 of what I paid. I wonder about these electronic returns and if they are stealing without people realizing what the IRS is up to.

In Minneapolis you might have police put a knee to your neck for any kind of fraud. Oh that’s right Mnuchin and Devious are the wrong color.
They would say no, we are the right color.

All thanks to Obummer and BiDone.

Informative comment. Thanks!

And the “right color” is what? Green maybe - $$$$…

Student loans became non-dischargeable by bankruptcy in October 1998,

A few months earlier a very large change occurred, the GATS Financial Services treaty provisions. So, in order to make sure that foreign service providers were given certainty, all changes that might make the market less profitable had to be taken out of the realm of policy space that voters might change. See these links and many more- basically, the government cannot help people if that help reduces the value of financial services (including banking and insurance, loans, annuities, etc.) or diminishes their profitability. Existing violations have to be eliminated or reduced in scope.

If they violate these rules by trying to expand beyond the narrow groups they are designed to serve (specifically the retired who are served by our statutory system of social security) Thats why we still have Medicare, because its for the retired. Please read the links below carefully. Politicians keep making promises they know are forbidden. They should instead be promising not to change anything- instead - first- to get out of GATS.
