NAACP National Leaders Appear in Court For Voting Rights Sit-In Thursday

ROANOKE, VA - NAACP National President and CEO Cornell William Brooks and NAACP Youth & College Division Director Stephen Green are scheduled to answer charges in a southwest Virginia courthouse tomorrow over their refusal to leave a Congressman’s office during a Voting Rights protest last month.

It's good to hear someone note that measures such as the ID mandate especially work to prevent the poor, elderly and the disabled from voting. Most of these are white, with a large percentage living outside of the major cities. Even when free ID are made available, the nearest place to get one can be in a town 20-30 miles away. Obviously, these people need the IDs because they don't have drivers' licenses, so they have no way to get the IDs.

On the bright side, for whom could they vote today, when no candidate/party represents them and their greatest concerns?
