Naomi Klein and the Quest for Environmental Justice

John Buell

More than a program for economic and ecological renewal Naomi Klein’s No Is Not Enough: Resisting Trump’s Shock Politics and Winning the World We Need is a thoughtful analysis of how we have arrived at this point in our politics. Both rigorous and readable it is hard to put down. It spares no one, not its readers, the media, nor even the author herself. This book can elicit the kind of self-reflective activism we desperately need.

I would like to add just one thought, for all who seek to understand what is happening to us - here fifty or is it sixty-five thousand years after we first landed in Australia and initiated the first of many mega-faunal extinctions.

And that is this - it is important to start calling the climate crisis global warming & ocean acidification.

OK, maybe two thoughts - here - a new study by the UN:

Beautiful passage, this is, from the book by Klein…“strands of the same braid, inseparable”. A very basic fact, but easy to forget! We must keep in mind always that Capitalism, Climate, Racism, Inequality, Criminal Justice, Endless War and Militarism are all “strands of the same braid”. The battle of resistance and change will be long and difficult, and our side must pull together with a strong Progressive rope made up of our own many strands,
