Nearly 100 Animal Rights Activists Arrested for Protesting 'Torturous Practices' at Duck Slaughterhouse
People should be required to at least be taught how to slaughter and experience the task of killing any animal intended for food. The western taboo against acknowledging that death, our own that is, is the single known unequivocally shared experience in human life. We are insensate as a society to the fact that the most powerful institution in our society uses OVER HALF OF OUR SHARED RESOURCES to kill in our name, without our consent. The depth and egregious consequences of this fact are assiduously protected. This is what the Abrams, Boltons, Bannons, Clappers and other institutional toadies DO FOR “A LIVING”.
Soldiers ARE TRAINED to be insensate to murdering when ordered to do so. This twists the human mind in ways that require “scientific” “professional” remediation that - quite frankly, does not work very well.
The salient question here is: What percentage of the US population is now former military; raised by insensate former military and could not care less, BECAUSE they have been rendered insensate, to the seepage of these psychotic elements into the unspoken currents of everyday life? The answer would appear to be: the majority. And THAT presents a very real question that needs to be addressed, IMHO, by an ostensible “democracy”.
Ruthless man: you begin by slaying the animal and then you devour it, as if to slay it twice. It is not enough. You turn against the dead flesh, it revolts you, it must be transformed by fire, boiled and roasted, seasoned and disguised with drugs; you must have butchers, cooks, turnspits, men who will rid the murder of its horrors, who will dress the dead bodies so that the taste decieved by these disguises will not reject what is strange to it, and will feast on corpses, the very sight of which would sicken you.
Jeez, that photograph speaks volumes…If you didn’t know what this picture was about you’d never guess ducks.
From the picture, a more appropriate article would focus on the private security force of the oligarchs and plutocrats… the protectors of the .1%.
The corporate state and its enforcers, protest is banned for anything - jail time or worse awaits those who question the authority of the plutocracy. Money rules.
The stormtroopers look utterly ridiculous marching out like that. What buffoons. How much armor do you need to wear to arrest a peaceful group of unarmed protesters? This kind of corporate bullying is going to get worse before it gets better. At least they are not using snipers yet, like the Israeli soldiers shooting unarmed protesters.
I would only argue that the soldiers are, themselves, already sacrificed to an pathological system–the evils of a profoundly empty and soulless form of materialism, aka neoliberal capitalism. Everything and everyBODY are just another resource or commodity.
Bravo to the activists that try to make a difference ending institutionalized animal cruelty! The juxtaposition between the activists and corporate goons is stark!
"The real criminality is the systemic torture and slaughter of billions of animals in the cruelest, filthiest, most sadistic conditions,"
If you love animals don’t eat them and don’t allow their plight being made into commodities to be covered-up by anyone or any narrative by “foodies”, chefs, or the profits that drive the corporate animal “production” industry.
I have raised small numbers of ducks and chickens as an addition to organic small-farming (eggs only) and they are innocent and often loving creatures. Trust in the innocent is a terrible thing to abuse!
Long live the fighters!
E, you took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you.
My thoughts exactly. Look at this one and the photo of the protestors at the U. of Berkeley a few years ago and you have a real view of what’s wrong with American policing.
Cut them some slack Towerofbabel, no question these dangerous protesters cause the police to fear for their safety. /s
you made a good point about the ludicrous police, but your gratuitous comment on Israel, irrelevant to the situation, spoils it, especially as you have it backwards, no country makes more of an effort to avoid civilian casualties in the face of assault as Israel does, think about Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Somalia… the US!
That says it all!
This is another area where the justice system fails us. Sure, if your rights are violated you can take it to court. Oh that’s right, most of us can’t afford justice. As you say, money rules over justice.

Barry, there’s something seriously wrong with your information processing center. In other words spldzdzdzu!
Wish I didn’t read this. In a sad irony I just got done feeding a couple of local ducks some bird seed.
