Nearly 250 Civil Rights and Education Groups Oppose DeVos Education Secretary Nomination

WASHINGTON - Today, nearly 250 national, state and local civil rights and education groups have signed a letter opposing the nomination of Betsy DeVos to be the U.S. Secretary of Education and urging the U.S. Senate to reject her nomination.

The US department of education in the US is in a pretty bad state, corrupted by state politics and privatisation scams. Devos will likely trigger a great reformation of the mess. Unfortunately not by anything positive she does but by turning it all in a massive mess, forcing a major review and over haul, right after she is kicked out and a replacement is publicly searched for.
Quite messy in between but let's be honest, it has been really poorly run for decades on purposed by corrupt political stooges.
What did the last uncle Tom do about public education in the US, nuthin but it certainly got worse in his time. Well, at least people are doing something now, misdirected ill coordinated and hugely jumping the gun (when it is time to act, your political ammo will have largely been expended, your activists will be tired and they will have set up counters - what is happening is really foolish).
