WASHINGTON - Oceana released a new study today that reveals mislabeling of America’s favorite fish – salmon. Oceana collected 82 salmon samples from restaurants and grocery stores and found that 43 percent were mislabeled. DNA testing confirmed that most of the mislabeling (69 percent) consisted of farmed Atlantic salmon being sold as wild-caught product.

The best thing to do is to go to an independent, family-run seafood store, where there's a guarantee of sold fresh wild-caught fish on a regular, ongoing basis.
There's a fish market around the corner from where I presently reside that's family run. The father goes out to the boat every single morning and obtains fresh fish that's in season. It's somewhat pricier, but it's well worth the money, imho.
