Newly Released Detainee Transcripts Highlight "Cruelty of CIA's Practices"

Nadia Prupis, staff writer

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) on Thursday released unredacted transcripts of detainees at the Guantánamo Bay military prison describing the torture they were subjected to while held at various secret CIA prisons around the world.

The documents, released in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by the ACLU, reveal detainee testimony during a series of tribunals that aimed to determine whether Guantánamo prisoners qualified as "enemy combatants."

No point holding one's breath waiting for journalists to question Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as to whether they will allow prosecution of US government officials, directors of espionage agencies, members of the judiciary, etc. who took leadership roles in planning, implementing, and maintaining these and other torture programs.

When I read posts like this I can't help but think about fundamentalists who believe that the US is God's "chosen" country or some such thing. That we are somehow special or spiritual. Well, surprise! We are the whore. We are the prostitute. We are the liar of lies. The deceiver. The evil one. Hell is too good for the things done in the name of the US govt. If there were hell. We will provoke the wrath of hell by pushing the war buttons again and again by continuing to support a govt that insists on aggressions against any country that stands in its way of dominance. You can only pull this stuff for so long until this rogue nations you have armed aims one or two at you. Then what?
