'Nice But Extremely Insufficient': Critics Warn Bill to Keep US in Paris Agreement No Solution to Climate Emergency

Jessica Corbett, staff writer

Progressives are urging federal lawmakers to pursue a "real solution" to the climate crisis while House Democrats gear up for a vote this week on a bill to block President Donald Trump from ditching the Paris climate agreement.

The Democratic Establishment only doing something “merely symbolic”? What a shock! Not. That’s all they do. The Paris Agreement wasn’t nearly strong enough back four years ago, much less now. But the donor class just wants to score political points by seeming to care, when they are literally doing nothing.

Worse than nothing, they are actively obstructing the fight against Climate Change and just exasperating the problem further. And both parties are behind this by the way.

Bill has symbolic value, not much else. Let’s pass the Green New Deal and then put some substance on the valuable framework. If Pelosi and Shumer want to talk infrastructure, let’s make it green infrastructure and be smart about it

If Geoengineering isn’t already happening, it will. CO2 is rising but in Canada at least it’s been cool with snow in two provinces this last week or so. If Big oil knew about CO2 in the late 1970’s then they must have a plan. Do this in secret and they can make fools of the environmentalists and climate scientists. They can even use it to win elections. The Manhattan project was done without the general public knowledge. How would we even know it’s going on? If CO2 continues to rise and temperatures stay cool, then it might be time to start asking some serious questions.

Both political parties answer to the oligarchy above all, there should not be a need to convince anyone about that.
It should also be common knowledge that the 1% and the top 0.1% in particular consists largely of sociopaths and psychopaths, and that psychopaths generally enjoy killing people.
Is it really such a leap to imagine that they are driving our collective extinction in full awareness of what they are doing?

You never see the d-party apologist crew commenting on articles like this.

I guess even they can’t stomach saying “at least Dems are better than Repubs” when the degree of separation is clearly a joke. And by joke, I mean a matter of life and death.

We are dying of symbols. Democrats, grow spine. Now.

Whether it’s McConnell on the right, or Pelosi on the left, we have a congress that won’t let anything truly necessary happen. America is fast approaching a boiling point.

I would place Pelosi on the right and McConnell on the far right. Otherwise agreed.

HR9 will pass, the democrats will congratulate themselves and the planet will continue to “burn”.

GND as envisaged by AOC/Markey is not good enough. Extinction Rebellion is entirely correct in their demands.

" “You see, in [the Greater Community]environment is considered more important than racial survival. Here you have a natural world with millions of plants and animals, a magnificent creation, the result of millions of years of development, all now at risk because of one selfish race that is spoiling the world out of ignorance and greed.” [[1]]…

We are in a full-blown crises now here on Earth. Living in the United States we live in a facade of plenty and stability… Like an iceberg melting, we are destroying the foundation of Earth’s Life Support System…as evidenced by the Great Mass Extinction of animals & plants…It will be much worse than most think…we have some time but not much time to take action…we will reap the harvest of our planting as will our children.

It’s tough for them
