No Help for Civilians Trapped in Mosul as Deaths from US-Led Bombing Reported

Nika Knight, staff writer

Hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped in Mosul, aid agencies warned Monday, with U.S.-led forces refusing to create safe escape routes and urging residents instead to "shelter in place" as the military assault on ISIS (Islamic State) fighters swiftly moves into the Iraqi city.

Knowingly targeting areas occupied by civilians is a violation of the US military's rule of war 4.2.1 p. 100 http://www.defense.gov/Portals/1/Documents/pubs/Law-of-War-Manual-June-2015.pdf

Innocent humans and innocent animals and the land itself all victimized by the brutality of war.

When will we learn that this approach solves nothing.

By the way white phosphorous is being used in these attacks. It a favorite of the US Air Force.

Contrast the numbers of civilians trapped in Mosul with those in Aleppo. The number of Civilians in rebel controlled Aleppo is about 1/5th the number trapped in Mosul.

The Russians and Syrians have both offered safe passage to the same on several occasions. Many have indeed escaped to Government controlled Alleppo where they are not being attacked.

Added to that the number of ISIL and Al Qaeda linked terrorists in Aleppo is higher than the number estimated in Mosul.

So the US bombs a city that has more innocent civilians and less terrorists then does Alleppo yet condem Russia as barbarians for bombing Alleppo.

Typical hypocrisy from the Goverment of the USA

Yes. Both Russia and the US are hypocrites.

It's natural and good business for munitions companies (Lockhead,Bechtel etc) to demand of their customers (us) that consistent purchase orders be maintained for national security. This is similar to the private prisons that demand States guarantee 100% occupancy rates or an equivalent cash remittance. America, land of the free and home of the brave.
