Now President, Trump Once Again Lies About Why He Lost Popular Vote

Jon Queally, staff writer

Though he became the 45th President of the United States last Friday, Donald Trump on Monday took the opportunity of his first meeting with congressional leaders to again repeat the lie that he would have won the popular vote (which he lost to rival Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million people) if it wasn't for millions of undocumented immigrants he claims participated in the election.

Not only is Congress not objecting to the Orange Fart's denial of his loss of the popular vote, Congress doesn't complain about the exit poles in Wisconsin and Michigan contradicting the machine totals that gave him "victory". The recounts didn't recount anything and had to be pushed by Green Party candidate Stein over strenuous objections. Hillary apparently was uninterested, as was Gore in 2000, and Kerry is 2004.
What democracy!

When Trump's lying becomes policy then the darkness has descended.
If Trump was going to clean up the swamp, he would focus in on an electoral system that does NOT reflect the popular vote and seek to repair it. But since he is a demagogue, he knows how to bait and switch. He has no interest in cleaning up the swamp. It's more mucky and slimy than ever.

The alternative fact that HRC got over 3 million votes more than Trump because of fraudulent voters, is sooooo ridiculously, asinine, that it further proves Trump is dangerously, delusional and a mental case unfit for office.

Trump does not belong in the White House; he belongs in the big house... locked up in a mental institution, before he can do any more damage.

Jon is right in thinking that the source of Trump's pathological lying is psychological -- if it were an intentional tactic he wouldn't lie so openly about such minor issues. But I think that the source of his neurosis is something deeper and more dangerous than just a runaway "ego." A strong ego is a necessity for anyone who goes into politics. I think Trump's problem is an enormous, uncontrollable inferiority complex that, subconsciously, he must hide at any cost. Fifty years ago political scientist James David Barber described this pathology in his book Presidential Character. He labeled this inferiority syndrome the "Active-Negative" presidential personality. Our most recent active-negative president was Richard Nixon, and we all remember how his presidency turned out. And Trump's pathology makes Nixon look like Mother Teresa.

Tim, I'm afraid that you misread the Detroit News article that you link to. No one quoted in the article, not even Michigan Republican Party officials, ever suggested that the Detroit vote count problem was the result of fraud of any kind. Here's the key paragraph from the article:

[The elections director for the City of Detroit] blamed the discrepancies on the city’s decade-old voting machines, saying 87 optical scanners broke on Election Day. Many jammed when voters fed ballots into scanners, which can result in erroneous vote counts if ballots are inserted multiple times. Poll workers are supposed to adjust counters to reflect a single vote but in many cases failed to do so, causing the discrepancies...

These problems with the voting machines resulted in a discrepancy between the number of voters tallied at several precincts and the number of votes actually recorded by the voting machines. The result of the discrepancy was that those votes could not be tallied if there was a recount.

As Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said, "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but no one is entitled to his own facts."

In what alternate universe does your head/brain live? How can you tell if T-dump, his staff, and his cabinet anointees are lying? Their lips are moving. This diabolical dimwit will go down in history as the most reviled, loathsome president ever selected (and without the popular vote). Revisionist history will never be able to cover up the rampant destruction this monster will cause not only in the US but worldwide. When he goes down, he will crash and burn in a flaming explosion.

"...would have won the popular vote (which he lost to rival Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million people) if it wasn't for millions of undocumented immigrants he claims participated in the election." Again, if this fool knew anything about the election process, he would have understood that he doesn't need the popular vote to win. Popular is a misleading term, popular meaning populac, which idiot doesn't realize. He speaks about it as if he was popular in the sense of being well known. Listen next time he lies about it. Connotation is as important as context. Anyway, the GOP went through multiple states redistricting so Republicans would win no matter what. It sucks having a Prez that doesn't understand the system. And why isn't he bringing up past Prezs that won without the popular vote, it would give his bs based argument a level of credibility.

It's true, it's true there are 5 million people who voted illegally, they all voted for Trump. Please a national recount and impeach the bugger.
