Obama Administration Insists Drone Killing 'Lawful', While Fighting Legal Scrutiny

Reprieve

The Obama Administration will today (Dec 6) publicly insist upon the lawfulness of the US drone killing program, even as it ramps up its federal court fight to avoid legal accountability. December 13th will see a hearing in DC in a landmark case brought by a Yemeni victim of the US drone program.

How can Drone killing be lawful when a) there has been no evidence produced, no trial, no arrests and no verdicts? b) Since the US has not officially declared war on Yemen, and Yemen has not attacked any country, their territorial sovereignty is being violated every time a drone enters their airspace. c) There are documented instances where drones have killed and injured innocent people, which would be bad enough if a war on Yemen had actually been declared. In the absence of a state of war, it is a crime against humanity under international law.

From day one, the 'war on terror' has primarily been a war of the rich against the poor. Both Bush and Obama are responsible for these crimes. Would it not be more 'lawful' to bring those two men, and their accomplices, to justice?
