Obama and Oil

Michael Brune

President Obama must wonder whether someone is trying to tell him something. On March 31, 2010, he announced an expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration, putting his faith in "new technologies that reduce the impact of oil exploration." Just 20 days later, the Deepwater Horizon blowout became the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.

President Obama and his administration deserve credit for major accomplishments when it comes to decreasing demand for dirty fossil fuels, whether it's forcing utilities to clean up polluting power plants or establishing stronger fuel-economy standards for cars and trucks. Bizarrely, though, the president is simultaneously making decisions that could lock in vast quantities of dirty fuels on the supply side for decades to come. An expansion of drilling in the Arctic, which could hold up to 20 percent of the world's undiscovered oil and natural gas resources, is exactly such a decision.
What a pansy piece by the Sierra club. Why this organization even exists is only due to the same bunch of Democrats who never seem to get it that they are being played for fools. Obama is a fraud and a will go down as THE worst president in the history of our country (yes GWB you have been out done). Obama, another politician who has gone from rags to riches on top of the destruction he has created at our expense. Wake up people and see our government for what it is. We are merely cannon fodder and shoppers for the rich and our politicians and their staffs are simply expensive puppets on a stage of destruction. Ours.

Wow, gee, whatever 11th dimension chess could he be up to this time? We better sign some petitions to hold this man to his own deeply-held values! Like, pronto. Before he is confused into going against his own deeply-held value system once again by the nefarious repubs!!! Petitions! Stat! He's starting to code! Ok, 10cc of petitions, and better throw in a booster shot of mass demonstrations too! Listen, his insurance only covers those produced by the MoveOn.org company though, don't forget.
