Obama is Bullish on War, No Matter How You Spin It

Trevor Timm

Barack Obama has now been at war longer than any president in United States history, as the New York Times pointed out on Sunday. Barring some sort of peace miracle in the next six months, he will be the only president who ever served two full terms in office while constantly being at war. And given how he has transformed how the US fights overseas, his wars will likely continue long after he leaves office.

"Barack Obama has now been at war longer than any president in United States history, as the New York Times pointed out on Sunday."

I wish it were as easy as pinning the target on Obama. Unfortunately, 911 unleashed the demons by setting a pretext for all-out aggression, all the time. In other words, The State of War is being ESTABLISHED as the new norm. It's part of what I've meant about Mars Rules... the U.S. is no longer a functioning Democracy. When half the budget (or more) goes to funding a WAR STATE (really, a War Department)... and so little is left to invest in infrastructure or human uplift (as Dr. King put it), the militarism unleashed overseas returns to its own source like a karmic boomerang.

That explains why dissent is now nearly punishable via prison sentence, that in spite of denial, all citizens are routinely spied upon; that the press corps. operate in lockstep to produce the Necessary Narratives to justify foreign wars; and there are 2.2 million people are in prison with another 4-5 million entangled in the so-called Justice System (on parole and probation).

War abroad invites tyranny at home.

Just discovered this; and it's totally right-on:

And let's not forget kids, Sanders supported Obama's warmongering every inch of the way. And Sanders has promised to continue the drones, the aerial bombardment, the special ops, etc.

The Democratic Party is where good intentions are melted down and forged into bullets, bombs, and barbed wire.

Wishing and hoping and thinking and praying
Planning and dreaming each night of his charms
That won't get you out from his arms

So if you're looking to find hate you can share
All you got to do is
Hold him and kiss him and love him
And show him that you're scared

(Apologies, Burt)

To quote the Reverend Wright: " why do you think Obama was selected?"

Though he's no man of peace, Obama is not as bullish on war as Clinton or Kerry but, he has made global assassination a Presidential tradition. That is is legacy.

Back during the 2012 Presidential campaign Jill Stein told reporters, that if she were to be elected President, shortly after she was sworn into office, W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Barack Obama would be in handcuffs and on a one way flight to the Hague to be charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity. I guess in amerika, it takes a women with balls to do what no man in elected office would dare do. The right thing!!!

Doesn't matter who is president, we'll remain engaged in wars until we're stopped. We've been at war more often than not, almost always by choice, for the past century. War is what we do, and have neither the money nor will to do much of anything else.

Why? America has an insatiable thirst for oil, and clearly has no intentions of reducing their addiction. We've known at least since the Arab Oil Embargo of the 1970s that there was "an urgent need" for the US to end its dependency on oil. Taxpayers have fought every effort since the 1970s to invest a reasonable portion of tax dollars into building a modern, affordable mass transportation system.

It's not Obama's fault........"somebody" made him do it.

War criminal.

It's not a long shot with Bernie---Bernie knows his plans at home would not go anywhere if we continue on the War path.
He would be another LBJ---and no one mentions him much any more.

He would have to start immediately --no soggy wind-down.
Over --> Out----> On, to the homefires.

The other two ? Killing is them---
Anyone have a used Nobel to hand out?

his administration hides behind secrecy and word gymnastics in all facets of its war policy, keeping the number of exact number of troops in the Middle East hidden from the public, and re-defining words like “combat” and “boots on the ground” and “civilians” to mask how much killing is really going on.

And that is a major part of the problem. On the WH web page it blathers about being a transparent administration, but Obama has been as secretive if not more than the Shrub was. In addition, he has set records of prosecuting whistle blowers who have interfered with his penchant for hiding things.

He is essentially partially neocon in foreign affairs, but Hillary is the full blown prototype for being a neocon. When she is elected, you can expect the US to have boots on the ground everywhere except the Antarctica.
