The Federal Govt should be providing free contraception pills and abortions if needed to any woman able to bear children. Financially it is far more efficient than having to provide child care and education for unwanted or unexpected children.

… unless you’re running for-profit schools and prisons…not to mention The tax-exempt Church…

$5 every American female and family that supports reproductive
freedom/CHOICE would start an appropriate war chest to overturn
Hyde which has for so long been an injustice and threat to women/
Roe.

$5 from every American female and females internationally could also
produce a war chest for the ERA, at long last.

While we’re at it, let’s repeal the 1947 Taft-Hartely Act as well. The foundational anti-labor law that gutted the 1935 Wagner Act, which made unionizing much easier, has led to the phony “Right-to-Work” (for less) laws that have enabled employers to tear-down union shops nationwide for over 70 years, and led to the powerlessness of workers generally. At least three times in my life, 1965, 1993, and 2009, Democrats have had enough control of both the Presidency and Congress to repeal this extreme anti-worker law, yet never even tried, just like in 1993 and 2009 they had enough power to repeal the Hyde Amendment but didn’t do that either. It probably won’t happen until we can get big money out of politics, but for that to happen, we need to overcome the power of that big money. It’s a huge circular mess, and the way out is not even on the horizon. It is going to have to come down to things being bad enough for most people that they will be more than willing to take to the streets to not just demand change, but commit acts to bring down the current state of affairs.

If you have any desire to live in a nation not committed to “lie, cheat and steal” better protect those like OAC who are speaking truth to massive power with the ethics of McConnell/Trump and even the GOP SCOTUS to reduce life of all kinds into a product they can use and abuse.

The reason the d-party can’t take on repeal of Taft-Hartley and the Hyde Amendment is that the only way they can form majorities in Congress is with large contingents of Blue Dogs from conservative districts.

That’s why we have RomneyCare instead of single payer. 34 DEMOCRATs in the House voted against Romneycare.

And that’s how the d-party won a House majority last year – not with liberals like AO-C and Tlaib, but with right-leaning candidates, 57 of whom were ex-national security officials.
