Oligarchy and Democracy From the Civil War to the Present

Just as the confederate oligarchy spread north and west after the South lost the War Between the States (WBS), fascism spread west after the fascist Axis powers lost WWII, launched in the US by Robert Taft, Joseph McCarthy, Roy Cohn, and the Dulles brothers.

While Lincoln’s primary motivation for fighting the WBS was the high probability that California and possibly Oregon would join the confederates and derail manifest destiny, the decision to go to war backfired when confederate oligarchy spread west.
