'Ominous' UN Report Warns Human Activity Has Pushed One Million Plant and Animal Species to Brink of Extinction

Jake Johnson, staff writer

A new United Nations report described as the most authoritative and comprehensive assessment of global biodiversity ever published found that human exploitation of the natural world has pushed a million plant and animal species to the brink of extinction—with potentially devastating implications for the future of civilization.

Hedge your bet’s with “potentially” more time. We, you and I, are not special, get over it and kiss you sorry animal ass goodbye. Do you see any governments or societies moving in the right direction(s)? Thought not.

We know we’re screwed and we know that the world does not have the political institutions or will to deal with this crisis. Take the US. We’re going the other way and Brazil is burning up the lungs of the planet, the Amazon, faster than a speeding bullet. The world is headed for a disaster and we humans may not make it. Not smart enough to adapt and change to recognize and meet the climate reality, we like the dinosaurs, will probably become extinct even though we can still make a great martini.

As a former environmental educator and researcher I plead with everyone to stop funding such research work and start hiring environmental cops and janitors. Ain’t gonna happen, though.

This is like blaming the invasion and occupation of Iraq or Vietnam on “human activity.” 70% of carbon emissions causing our climate crises come from just 100 giant corporations and an overly large percentage of those companies are based in the US. And “we” don’t have any say over how they conduct business.

That’s why we must have a world government fast.

It’s just too horrendous to contemplate.

As the report says, "… economic activity " is responsible for the destruction of the biosphere. This is as true as I have ever read on the subject. This simple fact also clearly illustrates why nothing can get done to make it better…there is no money in doing what needs to be done.

This is why the “green new deal” is nonsense. The “green new deal” just means ramping up all industrial processes and economic activity which will push us over the top.

We need to simply provide for everyone’s needs and make sure everyone is ok then we can gradually add in what can be sustained without destroying the planet.

That’s why we must have a world government fast .
100 corporations that have zero rights .
Nature which sustains us and balances the system and supports all life is Prime Value.
Doing nothing that would harm the speciesystem is paramount as this means each Individual is important.
All beings and species in the system are important not just those with power ,wealth and influence.
This Oneness with everything is the only thing that can serve and save our species.
We must raise conciousness to change conciousness and I think that’s what is happening .
The overhaul of humanity has begun. Time to Awaken The Species .

From the article:

There is perhaps no better example of climate science being disregarded than a climate change denier being elected president of the United States.

It’s all of Us as well. We’ve been warned by the Science Community for decades and ignored their findings and kicked the can. In the meantime our Leaders have done nothing as their top priority is their personal cash flow from the very source causing the problem. The polluters keep on polluting while we try useless Rallies over and over with no effect. There is no answer as we won’t take a more aggressive stance on our future. So, we type and read.

Pretty hard to wake up people who are actually in a coma.

The folks in the coma are mostly the boomers.
As long as they have the 3 S’s all is fine .
Safety, Security , Survival .
They have been duped by their cultural story which is pure fallacy.

We must write a New Story based on truth and understanding ,responsibility and awareness.
Life is Prime Value not the profit survival mentality .

But we must look on the bright side: Meaghan Markle just had a baby, and Warren Buffett says that capitalism is working just fine.
