Account for job type, education/training and experience and the wage gap disappears!
Bingo. Plus “motherhood” is not discrimination. Women (and men) make the conscious decision to have children. It’s their choice, knowing that they or their spouse will ultimately have to leave the workforce for a significant period of time to care for the newborn child. It’s not a company’s responsibility to pay someone for not providing any revenue the company. We don’t expect companies to pay for someone to go on sabbatical. This is the same situation. You beat the responsibilities for your own action. Choosing to have children has its consequences. Most are good. Some have significant costs. Before having children, you have to weigh the benefits and the costs, just like every other major decision in life.
