The military Industrial Complex made billions from the war in Afghanistan, just as they did with the wars in Iraq, Serbia, Vietnam, and Korea. The Cold War was one big rape of the US Taxpayers. So, how do we stop this? We don’t because the owners of capital are our masters. We tell ourselves that we live in a Democracy, because they tell us we live in a Democracy. The two-party fraud works. They tell us we need wars to be free, so we kill other people who want to be free from our master’s. Up is down. Black is white, Democrats are Republicans, trickle-down economics for Republicans is neo-liberalism for Democrats. Vote for Joe and go to war with China to make the world safe for the 1%.

It’s funny you mention that. There was much braying about democratic socialists trying to push our society into Marxism, but we already live in a Marxist society where the people don’t own the means of production.
The powers that be are not beholden to anyone but themselves while the people foot the bill, as it has always been. Potentially always will be until the inevitable inglorious end.

Democracy Now! likes to have Ro Khanna on a bit, but this is revealing in a way DN! has never directly shown: Khanna supports nearly every imperial military budget… while speaking against various U.S. military actions. If you give the imperialists the weapons, how can you call them out for using them?
I remember in the last U.S. presidential “election” one bright dividing line between the Democratic candidates. Which candidates who had the opportunity voted against Trump’s military budgets? Only Sanders (Warren voted against just 1 or something, but voted for at least one, too). Not to say Sanders has had a perfect peace voting record, but it was clearly distinguished from the others. And the same with Medicare for All–he alone stood as a “progressive” in contrast to nearly everyone else on the stages.
Another bright line was when in a Democratic Primary debate in around 2008, the following question was asked: “What would you do if you knew where Osama bin Laden was, and could kill him with an airstrike, but in so doing would likely also kill civilians around him–but if you didn’t act quickly, you could lose track of him and maybe never have the same opportunity again?” Only Dennis Kucinich stated clearly, “We should not commit extrajudicial assassinations.” Obama, by contrast, explained how he just would have to act on that opportunity and bravely pull the trigger in order to save lives (while taking lives).
If we can get the military budget up to an even one Trillion I think we will finally be safe
sigh_____-I am amazed that the military gets any more $. There are 44 four Star general. Why—they don’t seem to do much except lose wars. Oh wait—yes that Millie, a 4 star guy accompanied Trump to a church so that Trump could pose in front of a church holding a Bible upside down
And aren’t the 44 4- star guys supposed to be advising Biden? Trump made the agreement, and the generals did what? And even though I don’t think much of Biden----I am amazed that the press is acting like Biden lost a war—but it had been already lost for years.
Why no interviews with the stupid Bush the 2nd? He won’t discuss his stupidity? ONLY Congress can decLare war----so don’t be stupid again CONGRESS! AND when Congress decLares a war—those who voted YES need to go to war----maybe then we would be a smarter Congress—who sadly often seems as useless as ALL this 4 star generals! : (
What empire has ever really changed it’s ways? They just pridefully continue to choke down their failures and keep blindly fuelling the fall. Admit failure? Self examine? Redirect resources? Become compassionate? Could happen…….I most vigorously will always hope.
