Overwrought White Privilege 101

I suggest that progressives arm themselves.
But when I do, I get a fair amount of pushback from commenters here.
This despite right wingers pointing guns at us repeatedly just in the last two months.
This despite many reports of police welcoming armed right wingers to stand with them at protests.

I’m totally unsurprised to find they’re personal injury attorneys. Who else–with the possible exception of a few hedge-fund managers–could afford to live in that mausoleum??

agreed … its past time to defend our beliefs as they do theirs

Such priceless imagery; lily white filthy rich couple in front of ostentatious mansion paranoically afraid of the dark hoards of peons who dare to trespass on their precious neighborhood ( peacefully and going to the mayor’s house, not theirs) .

And they had the gall to lie about their intentions afterward. Note that she had her finger on the trigger; poor gun handling don’t put finger on trigger unless you are going to shoot, and don’t point it at anything you don’t want to shoot. He as least kept his finger off the trigger.

Frankly they look so miserably pathetic. This is the poster board for the state of the US.

One problem with the defund the police idea is that rich white people will be hiring their own police forces for their exclusive neighborhoods. Privatization of policing is already a trend-this is not good.

It would be best to look at European models for structuring and training of police. For example, the German police shoot an average of ten people per year, US police shoot around a thousand. Uk police shoot as many in a year as US cops do in a week. There is something wrong with this picture. See dw police-in-germany-kill-more-than-you-think.

" The survey found that Germans trust their cops more than they trust their doctors (80 percent), more than they trust their chancellor (57 percent) and more than twice as much as they trust their printed press (40 percent). Of course unlike the US with its extensive history of violence abroad and at home; Germans have learned their lessons since WWII.

“What country before, every existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that his people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. … What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” – Thomas Jefferson’s letter to Colonel William S. Smith, Paris (November 13, 1787)

It’s a little odd that CD is posting about this, but we read nothing about many of the actual murders, lynchings, disappearings and vows of genocide that are advancing the race war, committed in revenge for a couple cops getting fired, by people who can’t even claim they were afraid of looters.

Head on over to DemocracyNow for some real news.

“The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers” (Shakespeare’s Henry VI, Part 2, Act IV, Scene 2). Willy had it right, and it definitely applies here.

The inside of that place definitely reminds one of a funeral home.

You’re not one of those Boogaloo Bois are you, Senior?

My first reaction, when only one of the photos was posted to my FB page, the one where the male is pointing his unlocked and loaded weapon at the female, was to point out the various egregious epic fails of firearm safety. Like those dreadful driver’s ed films from the 50’s and 60’s(Signal 30 is one of my favs). I didn’t find out the rest of the story until this post.
Now, I’m Progressive/socialist, but I owned a firearm before I became legally blind. Followed all safety rules. Never open carried until a couple with a very vicious dog moved next door and failed to control it. Then I placed weapon in holster, full mag and safety off, went into the back yard with it fully displayed. Dog ran at me, I drew the weapon and calmly said, “This is loaded and the safety is off. Your dog sets one paw on my property in aggressive mode and it will be the last thing he’ll do. So control your animal.” Turned around and went about my business. And kept having to open carry because they thought since I was elderly and a woman I’d never pull the trigger.
Given the mood of this nucky futz culture, learn how to use a firearm safely. Get the permits. If we let it known that we at least know our way around weapons, those who wish us harm because we’re “liberal” might think twice. Meanwhile, continue to go with non violence, unless, of course, you’re threatened by a vicious dog and prefer to still be alive by the time animal control shows up…We’re talking a full-grown bull mastiff.

“Things” like “Boobie and Clod” follow a “Richie’s Redacted Version” of the Bible, it leaves out all that bad stuff Jeez says about rich people.

In San Francisco that 1.5 million residence would be a 2 bedroom 1 bath.

The probable lynchings this month in Palmdale and Hollister are quite disturbing.
And you are right I see nothing about it here.
REALLY DISTURBING

don’t point it at anything you don’t want to shoot
So…pointing the AR-15 at the ol wifey there is a Freudian slip…

Or just an unconscious Tell…
(especially in poker) an unconscious action that is thought to betray an attempted deception.

I have been armed for many years. I have many Trump loving relatives and I can tell you that firearms are about the only thing they respect. One even has an estimated 600 guns!

And your post reminded me of the saying: what is the first lesson you learn when attending law school? How to bill!

I use to live on the beach near San Francisco and that 1.5 million $ residence would be a summer home, for some attorneys.

Oh far from it, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t see which way the wind is blowing. I don’t think the coming decade will be a race war in any way because when the chips are down, everyone is pretty much the same, don’t you agree? Good people who just want to raise their families and bad people who want to control everything and everyone. I do feel that when you push the people (black, white, Latinx or whatever) too far there will always be trouble. Jefferson recognized this and the 2nd amendment was meant (I think) to help enure that the PTB always knew that there were plenty of armed peasants out there, so they should tread carefully. You mentioned that Progressives should arm themselves, and I fully agree. Frederick Douglas stated " A man’s rights rests in three boxes: the ballot-box, the jury-box and the cartridge-box". I hope you wouldn’t classify Douglas as a forerunner of the Boogaloo Bois would you?

The problem with this quote is the ambiguity that arises in that scene where Dick the Butcher said that in the play. the point at which Dick says that immediately follows Jack Cade saying he will treat everybody well so: “that they may agree like brothers and worship me their lord.” Suggesting that removing the law, as it presented an impediment to Cade’s taking over, doesn’t sound quite so high-minded in context.

Furthermore, these people have a problem; their actions are the problem. They happen to be lawyers. Not all lawyers act like this. What about the ACLU, NLG, CCR, NAACP LDF? All of which have worked tirelessly to promote justice in America. Hey, even I am a lawyer and I don’t point guns at people.

I think advocating mass extermination of any group of people is totally out of line and deserves no place amongst progressives. Not even as a joke.

Lawyers don’t normally point guns at people; they know how to use the system to get the police to do it for them. Q: What do you have when you have a lawyer up to his neck in sht? A: Not enough sht!
