Palestinian Prisoners’ Hunger Strike

Palestinian Prisoners’ Hunger Strike

James Zogby

One thousand five hundred Palestinian prisoners have been on a hunger strike for almost a week now. They are refusing sustenance in an effort to improve the deplorable conditions faced by the nearly 6,500 Palestinians who are currently imprisoned in Israel.

I wonder whether the NYT, when it publishes other opinion pieces, will now begin to point out other facts about the authors and their organizations.

Say when James Clapper publishes an editorial, will they point out that he's lied to Congress, repeatedly?

Or when they publish comments by retired generals, will they point out that these generals are now on the boards of such-and-such arms manufacturer?

Or, when the NYT asserts that the USA needs to go to war somewhere (right now!) that the NYT was wrong about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, that they fell for the ACORN hoax, that they...

The terrorist label is a great weapon to end attention to a view you don't want to see the light of day, regardless of whether that view is true or false. So, it's really an offense against awareness, and I resent people using this weapon.. There's plenty of it out there subverting the truth.

How would you like it if at 4:00 A.M. you were awakened by a pounding at the door and were told to get your things together and get out because at 11:00 A.M. the bulldozers would arrive to take your house, without compensation, of course. This is the process that has been going on relentlessly since the founding of Israel as a Jewish state. New housing is then built for settlers, Jews from Europe and around the world, including the United States who have been encouraged to relocate there. It has been funded by the government of the United States. Any politician in the United States who dissents or does not vote the money, has a well funded primary opponent at the next election and is out of office. Cases in point are the late Sen. Charles Percy of Illinois and Rep. Cynthia Mc Kinney of Georgia. A number of Israeli lobby groups, chief of which is the American Israeli Political Affairs Committee (A.I.P.A.C.). That process is apt to continue for a long time because too few non-Jewish citizens of the United States understand it and/or unable to resist being called anti-Semitic,

Zionists lecturing Palestinians about terrorism, without a hint of cognitive dissonance. Wow.

"From the end of 1937 until the middle of 1939, the terrorist activities of the Irgun and Lehi claimed 232 victims with another 370 wounded - men, women and children. I had difficulty calculating the exact number of the hundreds of fatalities from the period of terror between 1946 and 1948. And even after 1948 and 1967, the acts of Jewish terrorism did not stop. Many of these terrorists walk among us, free, today and those who were caught and sentenced were pardoned."

"Every nation holds its own terrorists close to its heart and considers them heroes. And even if there is someone who feels revolted, he too does not oppose forgiveness because even though they have sinned, they are part of the people of Israel."

The self-righteous indignation repeatedly expressed by pro-Zionists over "terrorism" is the height of hypocrisy.
