'People Should Take Him Very Seriously': Sanders Polling Surge Reportedly Forcing Democratic Establishment to Admit He Can Win

The good news is that the state polls are gaining attention instead of the national polls.
For high quality primary polls, look for:
small error rate. +/- 4.6% indicates a low cost survey.
disclosure of contacted people. Iowa State University retained a group and checked with them every few months for their favorite. Democrats and dem leaning who will likely attend a precinct caucus. This was via internet.

Who paid for the poll? Please remember that Trump staff paid at least three polls to have him at top billing.

I don’t trust the 3rd Way DNC. I’m afraid that if Bernie ‘accepts’ the neoliberals forcing a 'Wall Street Darling" into the VP position that Bernie will have a very short tenure as President so they can get back to business as usual as fast as possible. Therefore, I’m hoping that Bernie ignores DNC pressure (which I think will be heavy, as you suggest) and picks a VP that is as Progressive as himself so that if something happens to Bernie Our Revolution can and will continue. They havn’t given him any support to this point and he’s gotten this far. Why bother with THEM going forward?

What ever Bernie’s strategy is on that point, you and I won’t know what it is until it happens. We can guess that the DNC has spies in his camp, and I’m sure that he understands that the DNC crowd cannot be trusted.

Now that the DNC apparatchiks and the propaganda media acknowledge that Sanders can win, will they try to load him down with owned minders and supporters? I’m guessing that yes, they will do exactly that.

As much as I love and support Bernie, I think running for the nomination is his retirement plan. In other words, he simply does not have the chutzpa to go all the way, and certainly does not have what it takes to broadside the entire corrupt Democratic Party. At best we will have a short lived kumbaya moment–if he were allowed to win the nomination and then the election. At this point, Tulsi is the only candidate hated enough by the DNC, to be trusted for VP (IMHO). That combination would turn this cycle on its head. Nothing short of a major truth-telling can save this country and the powers that be are loathe to that…

Pre-defeated again Alan?

I remember hearing claims that Gays would never have marriage rights.
Weed would never be legal. A black man will never be elected president. Etc…

It took Dan Choi’s courage to chain himself to the Whitehouse fence to get Obama to acknowledge that although “God is in the mix”, that humanity can be more than slaves to the status quo.

Change is painful and disruptive and dirty - but ask Dan Choi if it was worth it. Millions of people and their donations indicate that they think it’s time for change.

It won’t be easy or a matter of clicking on a “like” But… We can make capitalism great once again - with the New Deal change that Sanders represents.

Capitalism is an economic structure for taking wealth, resources, and power from the many to the few. It has already achieved greatness - for the richest few. With respect to the many, capitalism will never be an structure for providing greatness.

Never heard of once bitten twice shy…well we have been mauled repeatedly and still not learned. You appear to be the eternal optimist.

For sure there can be reform and change but only when it does not threaten the system. Gay soldiers don’t nor women on the front line, a black lawyer as president didn’t. Even the Green New Deal, doesn’t
https://www.wspus.org/2019/11/hope-or-hoax-reflections-on-the-green-new-deal/

In recent times there was Bill Clinton with his third way…then Obama promising hope and change…We now have Warren considering Joe Biden as her VP or Kamala Harris.

Will Sanders be different? I think he will try. I believe he is a sincere man. But with both houses under the control of the right-wing (don’t call them centrist Democrats) which it will be, he’ll end up an orphan president unable to pass any legislation. So he will compromise and make concessions believing a half a loaf it better than a full loaf. But conceding ground leads to retreat and then defeat.

“Make capitalism great once again”…care to tell me when it was ever great…don’t refer to FDR…it took a global war to end the Great Depression, not the New Deal.

Your belief is no more than an echo of Trump’s Make America Great Again…a golden age than never existed longer than a momentary and transitory decade or two due to special circumstances…the rebuilding of a post-WW2 world and the implementation of the temporary fix of Keynesian economics.

As The Who once sang…“won’t be fooled again”…but alas…we fall for honeyed words over and over again, Ronbo

In my opinion, the Democratic, corporate, elite are scared to death of Bernie…so there is no if about it!

Could you imagine the popularity of Sanders if there were a single, mainstream publication or network in the U.S. that actually supported him? Here’s a guy that the MSM has pretended doesn’t exist or else they have smeared him from the beginning. Generations of brainwashing by corporate America cannot be erased overnight. People will still vote against their best interests simply because they don’t have any real facts delivered to them by the mainstream.
This article even seems biased as they said that Bernie is ‘second’ in Nevada. If you polled Independents in Nevada, you would find that Bernie has “crushed” his opponents. Keep in mind too that Nevada is home to the right wing ideologue and racist Sheldon Adelson who would burn American to the ground just to prevent Bernie from being elected.
Though social media can be counted on to get most of the under forty crowd to vote for Bernie, the older generations still rely on mainstream propaganda for their news. This was also an important factor in why Corbin lost in England. Many older people don’t believe or don’t care that the planet is racing toward our sixth mass extinction this century and therefore will probably vote for the right wing… like Biden or Trump. The propaganda is being turned up as the 1% are getting nervous. We must get the message out to older folks about the necessity of Sanders winning for the security of not only the U.S., but for the planet.

Exactly! Let’s hope we are wrong, but that is the way I see it.

“Impeachment (Indeed) Indicts Both Parties” but it unfortunately doesn’t “Clarify Our Tasks In 2020” — because our hardest task in 2020 is to understand and allow Bernie, AOC, et. al. to, by ‘exposing’ Emperor Trump as an Emperor (which he clearly is), and by ‘exposing’ this damned Disguised Global Crony Capitalist Empire as the last Empire on earth — will allow Bernie and all serious and principled progressives to turn the ‘dollar-drenched’, entrenched, and currently corrupt DNC’s Democratic Party into a new Second American people’s peaceful and complete “Political/economic & social(ist) Revolution Against EMPIRE” and true new ‘democracy party’ of, by, and for the people.

All the ‘Woke’ American; younger, younger-thinking, and inclusive people need to do when Bernie gives the signal is to fire a; loud, public, sustained, ‘in-the-streets’, but totally Non-violent “Shout (NOT Shot) heard round the world” is to support Bernie and the new true “democracy party” which will replace both of these dual-party Vichy-facades of faux-Republic and faux-Democracy, in the following manner which I just wrote to the NYT regarding Bret Steven’s column, and why ‘we the American people’ are going past both the “rougher-talking” neocon ‘R’ Vichy Party of the Empire, as well as the “smoother-lying” neoliberal-con ‘D’ Vichy Party of the exact same Disguised Global Crony Capitalist EMPIRE:

Well, congrats to the brave and non-censoring NY “Times” — as they did e-publish my commentary on “What It Will Take to Beat EMPEROR Trump” https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/26/opinion/trump-2020.html#commentsContainer&permid=104317372:104317372 Now we need to find out if the WAPO will ‘amp-up’ their daily front-page mast-head banner and expand their truthful comments about how Democracies Die — by adding these last two important words: “Democracy Dies In Darkness Under EMPIRE”

Now we need to find out if the WAPO will ‘amp-up’ their daily front-page mast-head banner and expand their truthful comments about how Democracies Die — by adding these last two important words: “Democracy Dies In Darkness Under EMPIRE”, by coming-out with the same truth in both opinion-setting News Papers:

"Bret Stephens, you could be close with “soap” — but nope — because ‘close’ only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

What It Will Take to Beat Donald Trump” is to ‘expose’ him as the Emperor that he is, which IMHO, can be easily done with the demonstration, march, and protest sign that I have been employing in Portland Maine & Portsmouth NH every week for the last two years, which simply says on one side:

DUMP
EMPEROR
TRUMP

and on the other side, under an image of ‘our’ American flag:

“We can’t be an Empire”

But because such high volumes of people (really HUUUUUge) in Portland & Portsmouth suggested to me that I change the word ‘Dump’ into a different, but somewhat ‘off color’ word, I have come up with this alternate second side about the importance of confronting this Disguised Global Crony Capitalist Empire:

GET ‘WOKE’ &
‘FOLK’ the
EMPIRE

Two signs of Bernie’s chances that I like:

  1. All of the major betting markets have him at about a 20% chance of winning the nomination - second to Biden who is at 33%.
  2. His consistency in polling compared to the ups and downs of other candidates shows that Bernie does not loose a lot of voters because of minor campaign setbacks. That’s important in a long primary season where he will stay above the magic 15% level and gather delegates while others will not. Remember - besides the DNC political opposition that created an unlevel playing field - Bernie also lost numerically because he started so far behind due to the overwhelming delegate lead Clinton got from Super Tuesday. That will not happen to him this time.

I actually think he has better than a one in ten chance of becoming President. That is a whole lot higher than any candidate I’ve ever supported has ever had.
