Americans do not vote for candidates based upon their background or policy positions. They vote on the basis of whether or not they feel the candidate is one of their own. It’s purely tribal–the question is whether or not a majority of voters belong to the Repub or the Dem tribe–Perdue’s stock trades are irrelevant.
This is what you get with Perdue…a no show in the senate when it comes to representing and supporting the people of Georgia. What a grifter and makes no pretense otherwise. Even Loeffler, the other corrupt grifter, showed up to debate.
blanket statements do just that - blanket/cover up - I encourage people to look beyond ‘the party’ ties & vote on the record of the person - not even what they say -
Only on what actions they have taken - whatever that is - they’ll do it again -
what’s that saying? doing the same thing again & again & expecting different results ?
Perdue and Loeffler, government of the monied, by the monied, for the monied, and that is US.
I truly hope that should he win along with Warnock then they blast the duopoly for always finding common ground on war and moneys for the Pentagon and little aid to the masses.
Dem and Repub Swearing in Pledge:
I pledge alliance to the flag of wall street and the profit it may represent.
So Help Me God of Mammon.
Only a class warfare denier would deem Perdue’s “fortuitous” stock trades irrelevant.
You are speaking from the point of view of someone who cares about a candidate’s past actions and policy positions. That isn’t how Americans think–witness the outright rejection of objective truth embraced by most Trump partisans.
So, the article says the (if the Democrats win) Senate will be 50-50 with Kamala being the “tie breaker”. Yeah, well…this fairy tale will only be true if we can get 50 Democrat senators to vote the same…you know…like Republicans do. How much do you wanna bet (if the Democrats win) that some right-wing Senators…looking at you Manchin will vote in lock-step (for us) if something truly important comes up for a vote…i.e. Medicare for all or marijuana legality…they will truly vote with the Repugs.
That would mean 70 million voters identify with trump. We should be scared shitless about that.
Perdue. Coward, crook, or both.
Blat the duopoly for doing what they themselves have been doing. That will be the day. The difference between Ossoff and Perdue is that Ossoff hasn’t gotten caught yet. His policy position pretty much mirror the GOP.
Warnock and Ossoff will be right there with the GOP voting against the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. They’ve already made their positions clear.
They will also approve Biden’s appointees who will be critical to to allowing states to expand health coverage and provide funding for states that want to reduce GHG emissions.
Opening comment on this page of THE COMMONS by drosera is correct about the actions, policies and issue positions of our elected officials and candidates not mattering to the TRIBAL IDENTITY majority of those with the right to vote.
Does that mean we should give up the right to vote at all? Does that mean we have the right to stop trying to persuade the unpersuaded? Today’s In-Box brought this from THE INTERCEPT (since I can no longer afford the pay-wall at the NY TIMES I missed this particular issue pertaining to in-cum-bent Senator Perdue’s personal authorization for stock trades on the big sale he claims he didn’t know was made by his appointed power of stock and wealth management investment portfolio:
When the U.S. Senator from Georgia Perdue (like the other re-election candidate from Georgia, Madame Kelly Loeffler also was caught tending to her personal stock portfolios before tending to the public health of her constituency once these sworn PUBLIC SERVANTS learned of the severity of the pandemic spreading.
That determined the timbre and tone of her campaign attacks as she tarred her opponent a Commie and differentiated herself as a defender of Capitalism Under Siege as in fact Senator Perdue has campaigned against his thoroughly Corporate Caliphate associating DNC candidate Jon Ossoff who is clearly a Status Quo Joe kinda DNC candidate as opposed to those Democratic Socialist candidates with their out-sized concerns for massive renter default evictions and the bearing of a SCARLET “E” for eviction on the monopoly credit bureau reporting agency records that will keep a renter from ever finding housing in these United States of the Wealthiest Nation the world has ever known as you’d know if this week was also THIS WEEK ON WALL STREET and you’d have paid attention.

I think it was an animatronic stand-in that actually showed up.
No one should expect much in terms of progressiveness from Ossoff and Warnock. But I don’t expect them to be the same kind of self-serving, corrupt grifters like Perdue and Loeffler. Also, it will mean a senate no longer led by obstructionist, Mitch McConnell.
Then, of course, Dems will not have excuse for lack of action. The Dems have to deliver for the American people or they will be in real trouble in 2022 and 2024. That could be extremely scary and dangerous.
There used to be a cheer? associated with the Unuversity, It was “POO POO PERDUE”
