A book I am currently reading describes how the species “Bacteria” functions. Bacteria are one of the most successful species of life on this globe going back billions of years. They will continue to exist long after we are gone.

Bacteria in fact communicate with one another and what is interesting is that they do this freely and will share information across all species of bacteria. As example as far as antibiotics go bacteria will adapt on the fly so as to deal with this and ensure they survive. They will modify their own Genome after they analyze how that antibiotic works. If the given antibiotic is designed to attack a certain cellular structure, they will turn that structure off or modify it. The information they glean is then passed on to future generations.

It does not stop there however. When they learn how to deal with a threat they will drop chemical traces containing the information as to how to stop it. Other Bacteria will then pick this up and learn from it adapting their structure even before they encounter or experience that threat.

It absolutely fascinating and speaks directly to Humankind and how it deals with these threats to their existence. Humankind issues patents so no others of its species can deal with threats to their existence unless they pay money.

We are not long for this earth and those bacteria will be here 4 billion years from now yet Human kind claims it “the most intelligent form of life”.

So what exactly IS intelligence?

There must be protection payments. After all, we’re not communists.

We should not be at all surprised for the simple fact is that pharmaceutical firms are in business to make as big a return on their investment as possible. The focus of their scientists may well be driven by a commitment to preserving human health and wellness, but charity does not outweigh their share-holders’ sense of business.

As Anna Marriott, Oxfam’s health policy manager, explains,

“No one should be blocked from getting a life-saving vaccine because of the country they live in or the amount of money in their pocket. But unless something changes dramatically, billions of people around the world will not receive a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19 for years to come.”

Nice article Suspira ,Intelligence is implementing your highest understanding, what good is intelligence if you don’t do this.

Humans ,still in the primitive stage of development .if we keep going like we are .Mother Nature will kick our butts , she is just getting started .
First we have to admit that we are connected with everything and all actions have consequences…the law of cause and effect.

Something else in that vein (microbia as Mother Medea, consuming her multi-cell children):

The Medea hypothesis is a term coined by paleontologist Peter Ward for the anti-Gaian hypothesis that multicellular life, understood as a superorganism, is suicidal. In this view, microbial-triggered mass extinctions are attempts to return the Earth to the microbial-dominated state it has been for most of its history.

The answer to your trick question is: (e) Ain’t no such a thing.
