Photos and Hunger Strikes Expose More Abuses of Migrant Detention

Central American women holding a hunger strike at the Berks County Family Detention Center in rural Pennsylvania implored President Barack Obama to "set aside [his] vacation for 10 minutes and look at how we're suffering locked up in here" on Wednesday, as they continued their second week of striking.

This is cruel and unusual. Yet, as long as we have immigration laws, I don't believe we can just open the borders. So, it looks like we either have a speedy way to grant asylum, which these people have apparently been refused, or we deport them.

Like with civil rights, if we want a result the laws don't support, we have to change the laws.
