The politics of the past have not been good for African Americans, but that’s what Biden offers, and he said as much when he said that with him in the White House, “nothing will fundamentally change”.
King also said that a person should be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
He was speaking to prejudice, but the admonition applies here as well, don’t you think?
The gap between black and white wealth in the US got wider under Obama/Biden.

Thank you, Kaylie, for a clearheaded analysis. The last thing that we need is a stupid, naive romanticism. We have to recognize that decision-making by fear, greed, and short-term "self-interest’ is a HUMAN problem. The sordid record of class inequality and ethnic killings in post-colonial states can not be laid solely at the feet of European and US colonialists, as horrific as they were, or neo-liberalism. Only clear thinking – as opposed to wishful thinking – can lead all of us to a better place.
