Protesters Descend on JFK as Immigration Officials Detain Refugees

Nadia Prupis, staff writer

Protests erupted outside of John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York on Saturday, as border agents detained refugees who landed after President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning travelers from seven countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me" .- Martin Niemöller

Speak out!

The inverting of the inverted totalitarian State in its first week is on quite a roll.

Lists of individuals resisting Trump's alt-reality will be distributed eventually to his right wing following. Artists, writers, professors, you, and I are potential targets.

It IS happening here. Unassailable power of mass surveillance, laws that allow detainment by the military without charge, etc were handed to this fascist.

Thank you oligarchs, may the consequences bite you as well.

This is wrong on so many levels it's sickening.

Trudeau, Sturgeon Respond To Refugee Ban:
"Welcome To Those Fleeing Persecution, Terror And War"

In response to Trump's immigration ban, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted on Saturday afternoon "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada." ..

Moments later, his statement was echoed by Scotland's Nicola Sturgeon, who retweeted Trudeau's comment and added "Welcome to Scotland too."

Just like The Netherlands stepped up when Trump banned US $$ for NGOs providing abortions or abortion information abroad.

Trump is having a remarkable unifying effect.
Is this the way the Odious Empire of Chaos finally crumbles?
.. stay tuned ..

There was a piece in the NY Times today which seems to shed some light on explaining this apparent madness which is now taking place.

Trump's new order banning refuges from 7 Muslim countries. Does anyone know why Saudi Arabia is not included as one the banned Muslim countries?

#8

" It is happening here."
Yes, welcome to the Fourth Reich.

It's because they helped pull off ______.

That's all I can say on that topic.

.. the NYC Taxi Workers just called for a work stoppage, starting at 6 pm. No pick ups or drop offs to JFK.

From 6 to 7 p.m., drivers are not picking up passengers at Terminal 4.

There are approximately 19,000 drivers in the union including yellow cab drivers, green car and black car drivers. The union also represents Uber and Lyft drivers.

This is so wrong, so embarrassing, that I hardly know what to say. This crap along with thinking torture is ok makes me want to live somewhere else.

#12

They know too much

#13

It should be obvious, because Saudi Arabia is one of the U.S.'s allies.

This is a pretty good video explaining it.

#14

Hard to understand why those with a green card are included under the order. Since 9/11 not a single death in the US caused by anyone from these countries , and 9/11 was an all Saudi affair w/protection of the leader from the Taliban in Afghanistan, yet neither country is included

When is Trump going to ban Christian immigration to stop all the terrorist attacks on Planned Parenthood, abortion providers, prevent them from impeding in science class and religious liberty???
Trump's government reminds me of the one in India. Religious fanatics using a guy who talks about 'economic matters' to push a fanatical and hateful religious agenda.
Bless all those who confront Trump and his hateful fascists!!!

  • Promoting extreme nationalism and isolationism from the global community.
  • Government-sanctioned bigotry.
  • Purging of “disloyal” federal employees.
  • Calling for all citizens to be 100% loyal to HIM.
  • Pushing evidence-devoid conspiracy theories.
  • Attempting to harm cities that oppose his political agenda.
  • Shunning and blocking access by the mass media.
  • Publicly deriding critics with daily public petulant outbursts of petty insults.
  • Calls for massive military expansion (and renewal of a nuclear arms race).
  • Denying health care to those in greatest need.
  • Creating obtrusive physical barriers along national borders.
  • Renewing calls for torturing suspected “enemies of the state”.
  • Antagonizing and deriding leaders of foreign nations.
  • Calls for invading foreign lands for the purpose of assuming control of their natural resources.
  • Deliberately undermining the entire election process.

Yep, Donnie certainly seems to be following the key steps to success in “Forming a Fascist Dictatorship for Dummies”.

Fear and ignorance are the true enemies.

#19

I wouldn't characterize the state of affairs as the Fourth Reich although there are a number of similarities with right-wing dictatorships. It's a uniquely American hypercapitalist Christian fundamentalist militarist affliction.

#20

Well of course, that is what Trump used to gain power.

Fear of what is happening, fascism in the US, certainly isn't born of ignorance. (yes yes to those who would chime in relative to creeping fascism over the last decades, I get that)

Fear of that is a necessary ally. Not paralyzing fear, but having some clue what we are all up against.
