Proving Its Commitment to Planetary Destruction, House Votes to Lift Oil Export Ban

#1

#2

Hell, there is probably a de facto repeal built into TPP.

#3

Despite warnings from environmental groups and President Barack Obama's explicit pledge to veto any such measure, the Republican-led House of Representatives on Friday passed a bill lifting the nation's 40-year oil export ban.

Waaaiiit just a minute!! Since when is BO against exporting oil? Oh, yeah, my bad - he's against exporting crude oil, but he's for exporting fracked natural gas. Silly me. For a minute there I thought he was actually interested in reducing petroleum production! What was I thinking? True to form, the dude is pulling a con about sustainability while choosing Option X, which also destroys untold volumes of fresh water, among other "corporate proprietary secret" harms...

Way to go, BO.

The cocks...er...Kochs are dancing in the streets (and aisles of the House). Yup, those House members were elected to REPRESENT their constituents but somewhere between their win announcement and trip to Washington, they "plum fergot." Blinded by the glitz and glam flashing before their very eyes at the sumptuous buffets at the myriad luncheons and dinners (fundraisers put on for either Dems or Repos) hosted by Big Oil, Big Pharma, and any other number of K-Street lobbyists, they simply chose to cross over to the dark side. :confounded: (My son served a college semester as a legislative intern for a Dem. Senator and as he was unpaid and D.C. is VERY expensive to live in, when his fellow interns working for Rep. Senators would invite him to some of these fundraisers, he would accept for the free food (lobster, filet mignon, crab, wine, champagne, etc) take home some sandwiches he made for himself as well as handing them out to the homeless lining the sidewalks around the restaurants where the soirees were held. He said the contrast was very disturbing.)

Like a friend of mine used to say, most members of the House were the W _ _ _ _ S of Congress.

I am not a proponent of drilling or fracking. But one of the arguments for doing it, is that we can become self-sufficient in energy. So how does increasing exporting help us to get to that goal? It's not like we have an excess of oil or gas. We are still importing oil and gas for our use (45% of our energy usage). Of course the answer is that the corporations make more money exporting what we need. So all this talk of drill baby drill is not to make us self-sufficient, it's to make more profit for the corporations. Just like most of the tar sand oil will go overseas and not help us.

#6

Republican corporatists see opportunity in disaster, so they are causing disasters to make opportunities and won't lose an opportunity to cause a disaster.

#7

Watching Z Nation... so obvious... didn't even read the article... it's all so ridiculous now... there is not understanding... of our situation. There is only one reality. Climate tipping points have been tripped. Another article talks about how the Thermalhaline (sp) has been slowed/changed... I really do not think this can be turned around... among other tipping points... I turned in my resignation ...again at my job.. .I cannot function in this system any more...

#8

Continuing to function in this system, in the way that is expected, is not helping. We need to "DO" something different. I know that not everyone can change their situation. I am not really leaving my job with nothing in it's place. I am an Astrologer. I am staring my own business. I know that many people here, will not know or understand how this is something that is relevant or serious. I do not care. I am now ready to be myself. The current life support system has seized to be relevant to me. I can not see how it is relevant to anyone. The corporations do what they please. The "regulatory" agencies will do what they will, but at this point, it is all moot.

#9

Do what you can, in name of love. Do what you can, in the name of caring for your fellow humans. The best way to counter the forces of greed and power, are to care for other human beings. We can think differently if we try. Think outside the box. Stop depending on corporations to give us what we need/want. It is hard, from our beer to our coffee, to our feminine napkins. We can come up with another way of existing. This is real. It is not something that can be solved with ONE new way of doing things. It is a REVOLUTION OF MIND SET. Why do women need makeup? Why does anyone need to watch professional sports? We can do all these things within our own communities. Anything, ANYTHING, done on a MASS SCALE is wrong... even medicine... we have to come to terms, with how we are .... are we are, "BEING"... so far, we are not doing that. QUESTION EVERYTHING... Just the fact that Nuclear Power Plants exists, is evidence that we are not living a natural life. Let's try to live without corporations. They are killing us.

A description of Pluto in Capricorn. By Elizabeth Joyce.
Pluto, the transformational planet of the Zodiac, is connected with the necessary urge for renewal, the tearing down of the old and the rebuilding of the new. This planet can also be associated with terrorism, mass movements, country take-overs, severe weather conditions and change that occurs on a larger scale. When this planet is affecting your chart directly, you will experience an overriding drive to change yourself, as uncomfortable issues from your sub-conscious mind begin to surface into your consciousness. Such matters will usually revolve around deep-seated needs of one kind or another. For example, when transiting Pluto crossed over your natal Saturn you will experience lack of money in some form or another. This can be a six month to a year's cycle.
Capricorn is a Cardinal Earth Sign, and as such it is strong, assertive, pragmatic, practical, productive, materialistic, traditional, and goal-driven. Oh and one more point, it takes no nonsense from anyone or any thing! The theme of Capricorn is the establishment of a prominent social position in the world, being the "top dog," or the "hot shot." Because it's ruled by the hand of Saturn, this sign is involved with structure and form, organizing all concrete elements into a functioning whole through the use of available resources, as well as the setting of limits. This sign allows for no extravagance or waste. The sixteen years of transiting Pluto's influence will be affected by or filtered through Capricorn characteristics, such as a serious, focused attitude, responsibility, hard work, ambition, self-discipline, and frugality, as well as the desire for Social Status and public recognition.
We have no idea how this new energy will affect our life, our nation and our world because it has been more than 275 years since we experienced the last transit of Pluto in Capricorn. That was during the time of the Revolutionary War, when we were strongly defending this country and fighting for our freedom as a nation. Pluto transited through Capricorn from December 24, 1515 through the end of 1532. This was a time for the mass consciousness to renew their relationship with the divine. These years saw the dawning of the Protestant Revolution (1517) in Western Europe. This was a very important phase for a large portion of humanity. Although this reformation was essentially a religious movement, it had a massive impact on the human mind, and consequently on many human activities.
The last Capricorn ingress through Pluto took place between early January 1762 until the Spring of 1777. This was a time mankind reviewed its attitudes towards work, wealth, and the management of our natural resources. To an extent this happened when the "New World" was discovered but not in the radically different way that might have been needed, from this New Millennium's point of view.
During its retrograde period in 2008, from April 2 through September 8, it will move back into Sagittarius on June 14 to September 8, where it will then go direct. It will not move back into Capricorn until November 26, 2008. During Pluto's backward travel into Sagittarius, you will have the opportunity to address any lingering issues related to Pluto's sojourn in the sign of the Free-Loving Archer. The point of power is December 29, 2009. That is the day that whatever was broken up, set aside or lost will be in completion. Pluto is famous for destruction before reconstruction, and while in the sign of Capricorn, this will be no fun --- to say the least. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the hand of the Father. The task-maker and disciplinarian.

What might be coming up for the World's Consciousness is:
1) The power to effect change is in the hands of a few nations represented by their military and industrial strengths.
2) Large numbers of human beings will probably be manipulated towards conflict and fear over the acquisition and control of our decreasing natural resources, particularly food and oil.
3) There will be a breakdown of the world-wide financial and corporate structures.
4) There will be a breakdown of our biological structures ecosystems.
The energies coming together show a profound renewal in our relationship to outer space and the universe, the biosphere and how it has been contaminated, and the sharing of our world resources as well as power management. There is a need to break away from obsolete power generation and resource management systems by initiating radically new ways of being. There may be some world-wide strikes as people come together and forcefully demand their right to access resources and generate power, and more than electricity and fuel.
Innovative power generating technologies will become available to provide the necessary tools needed to break free from the grips of centralized control. This will more than likely bring up issues that will have to be confronted as we move along into 2046.
There is so much more to say, but I will stop here and make a list of areas where we can expect some radical changes over these next sixteen years:
Ecosystem breakdowns
Increased Earth Changes
The end of Cheap Oil (As crude oil moves to $160 a barrel)
A deeply penetrating Spiritual Crisis
Population Unrest and Global Conflicts
Demographic Slowdown (through starvation, war and people stopping pregnancies)
Economic Crisis and a complete reformation of the Monetary System
Reform of Work Ethics
Reform in Politics - a Dictatorial Government - and Government Methods
The reversal of Globalization and the idea of the New World Order
Genetic Technologies Applied to our food and our unborn children
Worldwide Health Crisis

Here's another description...
The transit of Pluto through Capricorn is such a long one, that it's hard to fathom what life will be like in 2023, when it ends. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, making it the master of the physical realm, the lasting structure-builder of the Zodiac. It's a sign of breadth and depth, whose efforts tend to be big in scale. Capricorn is a sign that digs in, to be an active part of the backbone of society.
Enter Pluto (which moved into Capricorn in November 2008), whose planetary purpose is to destroy that which no longer fits with the evolutionary plan. Pluto is set to transform the very structure of society, and how we live on our planet.
Will we see clean energy, a re-seeded and de-toxified Earth? Will the economic system be reformed, so that all of the planet shares in its abundance?
And will the sickness and corruption of our government institutions be transmuted into a higher ideal? It all depends on what we do with Pluto's profound provocations to change our ways.
Pluto's trials serve to shatter structures that have become prisons to growth, even though we cling to the familiar as it crumbles. Just when we think we've hit a bottom, Pluto sends us hurling down further into what seems like a bottom-less pit. Pluto transits take out the light at the end of the tunnel. And that's when the miracle happens, and you realize you're stronger than you thought you were. And when true faith takes root in your character.
Right now, Pluto's drama is playing out in the realm of finances, government and the environment.
We're seeing desperate, compulsive and obsessive behavior come into the light, as more suffer from a system that's been revealed as unsound. Pluto's probing uncovers distorted thinking, and power being wielded destructively. The truth comes out, and in the financial world, we see a value-system that is poisoned by greed.
It's based on a sick psychological foundation, one not in harmony with the cycles of life. Pluto has a way of using extremes to bring a point home. With the bailout, we see the truth made clear -- we have a hopelessly corrupt government, in cahoots with the banking interests.
As 'trust' in the market is lost, the whole system spirals out of control. Banks don't lend the taxpayer money they were extended, and citizens are re-thinking their budgetary priorities. They're not shopping 'til they drop anymore. The values are changing, and investors are desperately looking to funnel their assets into whatever is perceived to have timeless value, like gold.
And this is a challenge to every household, as we try to adjust to the changes in the economy. There's taboo where you find Pluto, and Jessica Murray has written about America's loaded relationship with money. The issue of debt is fraught with dark emotions like shame, guilt and a sense of not being 'in control' of life. What's happening, with new rules and regulations skewed toward corporations, mirrors what happened in pre-Colonial America, the last time Pluto was in Capricorn. Pluto's dark powers of control, through money, is a theme that each of us will wrestle with, in some form or another. The specter of debtor's prisons has risen in the news here and there, but it's not likely to go that far. There's a potential for profound healing of our relationship with money, and a release from the prison of burdening debt.
Since Capricorn deals with power hierarchies, it's not just the average citizen that will feel the burn. We're apt to see the mighty fall during this transit. The monied elite are in Pluto's hot seat, with an investigative eye on what's hopelessly unsustainable. For example, the formerly hidden truths about the Federal Reserve, are coming to light. Since they charge interest on the money they print for the U.S. government, each dollar issued by this private bank adds to the national debt. Simple truths like this are being uncloaked in the mainstream, and that could ultimately lead to reform of the whole system. It's Pluto's time to follow the money with the promise that by exposing the hidden hands, any inherently destructive power structures can be dismantled.
Since Capricorn is a sign of enmeshed authority, we could be shocked by the fall or exposure of rotten-to-the-core leaders. Capricorn is the sign of the mentor and the archetypal patriarch...the Grand Poohbah. We will see the end of blind faith in paternal leaders to shape our world, especially ones with a do as I say, not as I do attitude. The true imbalances of a patriarchal system will be outed, and what has been hidden, exposed.
The scourge of unregulated corporate power goes to the extreme, and Pluto's lessons on this are designed to be undeniable. This transit enables us to see the dark truths about corporate greed, and the destructive force that puts profit before people (and in fact, all life on Earth). The part we each play to create a sick or healthy society, by how we spend our money, is brought home in a big way.
Though Pluto can take us to a hopeless place, there's always a rebirth on the other side. It's a planet that transforms whatever life energy it touches. And it does that by shattering the outer structure, so that the core gems can be ferreted out. That nucleus of what's real and true, becomes the foundation for the new.
This is just the beginning of a transit that many believe will be a rebirth for the planet. Pluto strips away what's false or superficial, so that the authentic can come to life. If there's greenwashing going on, we'll find out. We can speculate on what will happen, but Pluto's nature is to push us past the comfort zone, and into the primal untapped places within. The Earth is the ultimate change-agent in this scenario, and may surprise us all with her lessons. The end result will be a return to earth wisdom, where we all become back to the landers. And each of us has a role to play in re-creating society, and coming back into a give & take harmony with the Earth as the living entity that sustains us.

For comparison, look up, Pluto through the all the other signs... it will shed more light.
for simplicity's sake,
Pluto= transformation
Capricorn =structure/s (by which society functions)....

No surprises here.
