Last week, the principle governing body of the American Psychological Association formally honored one of its members, Jean Maria Arrigo, for blowing the whistle on the association’s collusion in the Bush administration’s torture programs.
The distinction, given during the APA’s annual convention in Toronto last week, reads:
Congrats that the APA is finally getting “it” right on this matter.

“In one example in 2007, APA board member Gerald Koocher publicly dismissed Arrigo’s concerns, stating that they were influenced by her “personal biases,” “troubled upbringing,” and the purported suicide of her father — who was alive when Koocher wrote the letter.”
Note how these & related tactics have been used on: Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning, John Kiriakou, and so many others who sought to expose the corporate-government-MIC’s malfeasance and slimy, secretive, immoral (and should be illegal) dealings.
The protocol is to shoot the messenger and/or assassinate his or her character. In that way, horrors continue to march on.
It’s so transparent it should be laughed out of existence already!
As long as the people responsible for authorizing, coducting and approving the criminal, horrendous and Immoral acts of torture, this kind of behavior will go on into the future. Starting with George Bush, the trials must start. Let juries decide on guilt or innocence.
Great article and refreshing to find what was, in great part, omitted in the coverage on this key decision - significant mention of a truly courageous heroine, Arrigo.
It’s inspiring to see how fast the structures propped by lies begin to crumble when the people, in unison, call their bluff on tptb.
This serves to remind us of the true fragility of the edifices of power.

But I’m worried about second-, third-order effects, unintended consequences. So, I need to know: Does international law supersede US law? Because if the answer to that is yes, this has dire negative consequences for all federal employees, particularly in the VA and the department of homeland defense.”
“Dire negative consequences” - It is time for a Truth Commission for Targeted Individuals.
