New Zealand joined a growing list of countries yesterday in announcing an end to fossil fuel exploration for the sake of the climate: Costa Rica, Ireland, France, and Belize are all working on plans to manage the decline of fossil fuel production, and there is little doubt that this is just the beginning.
Will Brown go green?
Not a wager I’d place my wampum on.
Don’t count your sheep before they’ve bred: NZ has signed on to the TPP, and if they’re dumb enough to ratify it, they’ll be hauled before an ISDS tribunal by a petrocorp over this.
TPP and other regulatory capture disguised as “trade deals” indeed changes the rules of the game to the extent that progressives may win some battles while ultimately losing the war.
