Remembering Civil Rights and Peace Activist Tom Hayden

Tom Hayden is perhaps best known as the principal author of the Port Huron Statement, the central document of the Students for a Democratic Society, written in June 1962. It declared “we seek the establishment of a democracy of individual participation.”

At one time he represented organization & principled resistance.

However, he gave up on that too soon. Instead of joining and building the Greens when they could have used it, he became a lesser-of-two-evilist Dem apologist for decades.
