'Right to Access' Under Attack as Kentucky Moves to Close State's Last Abortion Clinic

Jessica Corbett, staff writer

A women's clinic in Louisville, joined by Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, is in federal court on Wednesday morning to demand that a U.S. District judge strike down rules that the Kentucky government, led by its vocally anti-choice Republican governor, is trying to use to shutter the state's only remaining abortion provider.

To the Women of Kentucky:

If your man agrees that a woman must not have the right to choose whether she has a baby or not, tell him that his sex life from that day forward, is in his hands.

Literally.

In a nation that already has a higher than average maternal death rate, ethnic rates that are 4 to 6 percent higher than the national average, we see increases. Maternal deaths are increasing and no doubt will continues in the face of LESS access to healthcare. Less access to affordable early detection and therapeutic abortion. Kentucky should be ashamed of its irresponsible decisions that affect women. That is totally discriminatory.

Although EMW retains its license for now, the Louisville clinic sees anti-choice protests almost daily, and requires assistance from volunteer escorts to enable patients to safely access the office.

Protests at the clinic made national headlines in late July, when Operation Save America (OSA), a fundamentalist Christian anti-choice group, descended on Louisville to launch city-wide demonstrations and a troubling campaign that included publicizing personal information about EMW employees.’’

Where is all the outrage on this forum against the Christian right and the violence (via physical intimidation and bodily harm) they employ on a daily basis against those women needing or wanting an abortion? What makes the Christian right any different than fascists, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, or Antifa and the violence they utilize?

Here is the reality: The Christian right’s violence is a direct reflection of the character of their God.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction; jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving, control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

If the Christian right spent just half their efforts on children AFTER they were born; child hunger and poverty in the USA could be totally eliminated!

These “Fundamentalist Christians”, and the Republicans that they elect seem determined to take this country back-----back to the 19th Century!

I try to remain optimistic, but these idiots have just about convinced me that this country has passed it’s best days a long time ago, and now shows signs of sustained regression, choosing ignorance over enlightenment, preferring religious and political dogma over science and rational thinking.

It’s sad to see so many people’s desire for a new Dark Age. It’s terrifying when they have the political strength to make it happen.

You are right! The “Christian” Right has a lot in common with ISIS, Al-Quaeda, Wahabbi, and other fundamentalist terrorist organizations, and actually do more direct harm to America than all the others combined.

The last sentence I posted on another website is as follows:

…the ONLY difference between the Islamic fundamentalism of ISIS or Saudi Arabia’s Wahhabism and historic Christian fundamentalism is the point in time you are analyzing.

This Witch Hunt is the continuing War on Women by Elite patriarchy which
is threatened always by women …

And it is male violence and criminal activity which keeps hold of this power and keeps it in place,
including rigged elections which became much more serious in 1965 and 1967 with the arrival
of hack-able computer voting machines and MSM’s use of large computers which gave them vast
new powers to call “winners” and “losers” of elections based on 1% or even less of the vote count.
Prior to the arrival of those large computers, they were only permitted to announce actual votes tallied.

It is a constitutionally protected medical treatment. If you don’t believe in saving the life of the women in your life that is up to you. You just can’t make that decision for others. That is between a person and their doctor and familty.

Killing a potential child a 3 month old fetus is in no more meaningful way,
human, than a door knob. But stupid humans are easily confused; and have an overriding instinct to breed
… and in 70 - 100 years, if they lived, they’d be gone and forgotten forever.
I’m sure you prefer your imaginary world view.

There is a real credibility gap in your posted assessment and your professed love for women and children. And so you know I’m not a liberal… It really is more than a political issue, it might help if you expanded your knowledge on the subject because honestly that is no place of refuge in my opinion.

Every person’s life choices are different and we learn from them, some we regret as we should.
