Ro Khanna Introduces Bill Allowing States to Carve Path Toward Medicare for All

Zed

Thank you for the recommendation, I did find the trailer which I just accessed again using your link. Please don’t be concerned, I can request it in another way, if it is that important, I can let you know when I do. It isn’t as emergent an issue for me as it is for you. As I said, I am aware there is a problem.

I think we have different perspectives and I’m willing to let it go at that.

Sanitary practices.

How do explain it Zed, are you a doctor or do you work in the Medical field?

I coordinated medical services with existing availability, it was evaluated on a state and federal level and at least two federal agencies. (plus our own medical advisory team) I worked long hours for crappy pay. What do want blood. I’m starting to get annoyed by this.

I couldn’t agree more.

There is an unfortunate tendency for politicians to view the world as enemy and allies. I protested my own rep’s (Ted Lieu) incredibly poorly formulated opinion about how we should make sure we give Covid vaccines to our allies (India) before our enemies (Iran). It’s as if they have no comprehension that there are actual people living in countries who don’t all go along with everything their government does.

So for whatever reason, regardles of the USS Liberty or any other things Israel does against our interest, they are viewed as a strong ally and I fear it will be a long time before that foreign aid is seriously revisited. Bernie can make noise about it but it’s just noise.

I kind of liked both your and @zed’s answers. You mentioned sanitary practices as a positive feature of American care. I believe you are right. Sterilization of equipment is pretty well done here compared to most countries and things like re-using needles happen rarely in the U.S.

But zed pointed out that if you broadened things a bit to include all types of iatrogenic injury - then the U.S. does quite poorly compared to other developed countries. He is right about that. For example, the gross over-commercialization of medicine here that seeks to have everyone “asking their doctor if the purple pill is right for them” creates a very much over-medicated population and the associated types of deadly side effects we see. Other types of medical errors are also very prevalent in our system because of a mismatch between the skill sets amongst our health care providers and the optimal distribution needed.

I agree, excellent points.

I think there many good qualities and as you say things we need to work on. In specialized services, we dealt with quite a bit of that. It was a rare moment in time I think.

I’m wondering if a time out is in order in this discussion. I can say there is propaganda on all sides of this issue (yours too) and a lot of time is taken wading through it. In my experience, without an actual structured discussion, perspective is important. I guess it remains unclear where we begin to benefit from applying some of this information.

If you have unmet medical needs there are options for you.

Hi zed:
So the UK government F***ed over there own citizens??? When did that happen?

Was it that bad when BORIS supposedly had covid and was on a ventilator for 3 weeks-----but hmm, I would have thought that after 3 weeks of that, he would have been a much thinner man--------maybe Boris really didn’t have covid as after 3 weeks he was as fat as when he went into the hospital. : 0

Lets be clear here Zed, you can stop calling me names because in your view I don’t meet your standards. We disagree on somethings. Also, note you never address most of my posts, not even with an objection, that would be a better the time and place for your objection. I think you can stop feeling guilty, most people have some level of unmet medical needs. (not all of them are valid) It is what you do about it is what matters most.

Agree, we are not in a good position on this, evidently you have overlooked who would be implementing your single-payer plans, the very same people by the very same rules. If your goal is to learn more about this then fine, this maybe the right place to do it. I’ve learned a great deal here that I can apply but most of it is not at a global trade agreement level. I understand the process but at my age it isn’t a priority.

It is a journey Zed, finding your niche. You have obvious ability in this area but in my opinion need to work on your application skills. Just my 2 cents. I just don’t appreciate them when you make it personal so I’m taking a time-out.

Hi zed:
I never forgave them for dissing Jeremy Corbin and ruining his life and he really did work for the People of England.

Hi zed:
Maybe you missed the fact that Jeremy Corbyn was attacked as an anti-semite and became embroiled in a crap attack that was not real-----and the “powers,” who listen to complaints threw him away. Weirdly semites and semitic nations surround Israel but even more weird—most of the zionists are not even semitic… but are American, or eastern European ----Netanyahu is Polish. So pretend racism and lies against Corbyn took down his good work and his good name.

That sounds really bad, seriously I would start thinking of a plan b. Were it not for the fact that we all will age, become ill at some point, and lose everything we love or hate, we do have our own truth and regardless of policy, I doubt that will change. I think your politics does you a disservice but then that is just my truth. See ya.

She refused to force the vote when they actually had that option but now wants to “forge a path towards…” Why the hell do people keep falling for this crap?
There is a very simple litmus test that can be applied here: Any time a supposed m4a advocate does not mention existing investor rights agreements (euphemistically called trade agreements) they are simply lying to you.

Hi zed:
Sadly Truman et al decided to bomb the hell out of No. Korea. American bombed the dams and thousands died. Would you ever trust America after that, if you were NO. Korean?

I don’t have to imagine. I worked with people that were losing their cognitive abilities and eventually their lives for three years. Their medication histories not with standing, there really isn’t a pill for everything. Hostages of a different sort.

I thought we agreed I would let you know.

Hi zed.
Say what? You tell me to read some history?" LOL, I read it all the time, but there are so many dishonesties—and TRUTH can be so elusive. The TRUTH is most elusive when a political party has decided the “winner,” beforehand. : )

Oh, you must live in a state with a “reasonable legislature”, huh? As long as you get yours, right? Sorry Sparky, I would rather see everybody have health care rather than a privileged few who happen to be lucky enough to live in a state that actually cares about its people. That just adds to the inequality that plagues this country.

No - I live in Pennsylvania with a decidedly right wing legislature that would never pass any progressive legislature. Of course, national legislation is the fundamental goal here. But I definitely support state initiatives as well such as the one happening now in Maine supported by Greens like former Senate candidate Lisa Savage , as well as progressive independents and Democrats (see Maine Healthcare Action). Remember that it was provincial initiatives in Canada that led to their national legislation - and that remains one possible way that we will get improved Medicare for All in the U.S.

Hi dara: we they certainly got the vaccine fast enough, didn’t they. : )

Israel made a deal with Pfizer that made them the first to get the vaccine in exchange for the medical records of their citizens.
