WASHINGTON - In response to the announcement from BOEM to grant conditional approval for Shell’s 2015 Arctic Exploration Plan, David Turnbull, Campaigns Director of Oil Change International released the following statement:
We could have used that support from Oil Change International, when Obama appointed Sally Jewell, an ex-Exxon Mobil employee, to Sec. of the Interior. Even after she left Exxon Mobil’s direct employment, Jewell worked for a banking group that financed opening green field sites. Once Obama gets someone in office like Jewell, not only mostly unchallenged, but even praised by some environmental groups, it becomes nearly impossible to reverse these trends.
