SEC Probe Called Possible 'Moment of Reckoning' for Exxon's Climate Crimes

Lauren McCauley, staff writer

In what is being hailed as "a remarkably important development," the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has reportedly launched an investigation into whether Exxon Mobil deliberately deceived investors over the long-term value of its fossil fuel assets in light of the climate crisis.

#2

To broaden the public response to the industry abuses - NRDC has mounted a petition in support of the Standing Rock Sioux to Obama calling for the revoking of all permits for the Dakota pipeline construction and to conduct proper tribal consultations.

#3

"When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal" Nixon

When the oligarchy does it, that means it is not illegal. Exxon

#5

Done!

#6

President Johnson had a report predicting global climate collapse from burning fossil fuels. That was fifty years ago - 1966.

Exon has been encouraged by US government tax breaks, subsidies and wars to do exactly what it is doing.

Attacking Exon is a little like firing Wells Fargo bank clerks for cheating people as they were told to do.

#7

Do they ask for a donation? That's the standard org marketing ploy when an issue gains high visibility.

#8

Thats SOP for all online petitions. Whether or not you donate is entirely separate from signing

#9

Now we know who taught old Kenny boy at Enron how to steal billions using nonexistent assets. Exxon and the Bush crime family.

#10

Yes. I know. Sorry to be such an old goat.

Actually, a model of Global Warming was presented to the public in 1957 --

However, our scientists already knew in the late 1880's as the Industrial Revolution
took off that there was serious harm being done to nature.

ExxonMobil and all other monopoly corporations need to be broken up -- that's #1.
And, #2 is to understand that OIL is part of the National Security State/MIC-Intelligence.
No Oil::No War

It wasn't necessarily that, as yet, in 1963 when members of the oil industry --
H. L. Hunt and Clint Murchinson were helping organize and overseeing the plans
for the coup which began immediately upon LBJ's rise as VP. Certainly the CIA
was involved, as were many others who attended the private meeting held at
Clinton Murchinson's home the night before the assassination. They included
LBJ, J. Edgar Hoover, John McCloy, Richard Nixon, Jack Ruby, John Connolly,
various members of organized crime -- and many other prominent individuals.
Allen Dulles, of course, was involved and met with LBJ the morning before the
assassination.

Jail them for Fraud. It's only Fair.

After all, they've been caught Lying for Profits. Thieves Deserve Prison.

#15

Well, you know who will be voting for Trump this November.

"...the move may signal the opening of a new front of climate-related regulation and enforcement at the SEC."

hahahahahahaaaa.....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA......

Whew.
That was a good one!
