Senator Whitehouse, the Rhode Island officials and Public Citizen are to be congratulated for this effort.
If we are ever going to restore our severely damaged democracy it begins with overturning the disastrous Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v F.E.C.

That nauseous decision literally legalized the wealthiest among us to buy our politicians who of course will do the bidding of their finance 'Masters", regardless of the damage it causes the "other" 98 percent of American citizens. Everything from tax policies, educational policies, environmental policies to foreign policies are absolutely ruled by the rich. Every day further rigging of the national economy is geared to enriching and empowering the wealthy at the expense of the rest of the 309 million citizens of the United States.

We all must get rid of the Citizens United decision

Citizens United's most recent manifestation of the devastating effect it has on our democracy is the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court. Gorsuch's young age means his influence will likely continue for 30 or more years and if he does indeed become the corporate stooge his confirmation process suggested him to be, then all Americans interested in preserving "equal justice under law" must double and triple their efforts to seek the overturn of that hideous decision.

Polls continue to show that more than 75 percent of American citizens believe that the Supreme Court was wrong in that 5 to 4 decision in what I think, was the single worst ruling ever handed down in the history of that Court. Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission has effectively done what no enemy this nation has ever yet been able to accomplish as it absolutely delivered this nation over to the control of an unelected class of agenda-driven oligarchs. Those individuals use their unimaginable wealth to buy politicians, subvert the electoral process and essentially compel their crony political hacks to do their bidding as if they were their employees. Political corruption has become the norm in the United States of America.

Just last week, Internet Service Providers or "ISPs" under federal law can collect American citizens' private information without a citizen's permission and sell it to third parties, again without that citizens permission. This is in direct opposition to the right to privacy guarantees of the 4th Amendment. This is an utter abomination and any congressman or woman that voted for that Bill has no business whatsoever in even claiming he or she represents the people of this nation. Its the oligarchs and corporatists they represent...you know, the ones whose money financed their election campaigns.
