Good idea Mr. Brown. You show your concern by not confirming Neera Tandem for OMB director too. Oh, too much to ask? Well it seems your worries are not as critical as we might hope.
Obviously Brown’s no dummy, so presumably he understands he’s making this appeal to a long time foe of SS who just so happens to be sitting in the throne room as we type?
And again the sheer dishonesty of implying that SS was just hunky dory before that imbecilic incarnation of Lucifer hisself showed up to disrupt the, um, party.
Two years from now we’ll still being seeing the word “Trump!” in half the headlines in the confused liberal press. I can’t imagine Donald being more thrilled than to be blamed for, well, everything.
This is the LEAST that The Owners can do, considering the fact that they are allowing DT to walk away - free and clear - from the insurrection he OBVIOUSLY instigated.
It’s no wonder that so many Republican politicians wear flag pins (and hug the flag): this country is very, very good to them.
If they can willfully sabotage the U.S. Postal Service, they can do the very same to Social Security.
A small style note to Mr. Brown.
It is not “Trump’s” Social Security Agenda. It is, and has been, the Republican Party Social Security Agenda. The Republicans opposed the creation of Social Security and have been trying to murder it ever since.
Of course, this country’s COVID policy, past and present, is an attempt to kill off as many old people as possible so the rich don’t have to pay Social Security benefits.
Neglect of duty seems to be a pretty obvious cause of action.
Dear Mr. Biden, please listen to Mr. Brown. After all, Mr. Brown knows how to win in Ohio while you got your hiney kicked hard there, despite all of your BS about being a workin guy from Scranton.
Again, Mr. Biden attacks the voters who just put him in the White House. One of the stories of this election was Senior voters fleeing the Republican Party. So, of course, Biden just has to attack Social Security to teach them a lesson.
Ah, but Joe Biden has been a fan of decimating SS in the past. I find it hard to believe that he actually wishes to expand and strengthen it.
Neglect of duty seems to be a pretty obvious cause of action.
Destruction of Government Property.
Social Security is the property of the people of the United States of America. It is entrusted to government officials who thus carry a responsibility to ensure that the property entrusted to them is not damaged and destroyed.
We charge pro-Democracy demonstrators for spray-painting a federal courthouse. We sent Plowshares priests and nuns to prison for spreading red paint symbolic of blood around nuclear murder bases. But, destroying Social Security is not a crime?
And Joe Biden has for years publicly and proudly waged his own battle against Social Security. If ever there was a situation of the fox guarding the Social Security henhouse, we’re in it now. Don’t for a minute believe that Biden and his party are trustworthy when it comes to the Social Security program. They are not.
Not sure its just the Republican Party Social Security Agenda though.
Biden has supported hamstringing and killing SS for his entire 40+ year career.
I have lots of links on this one saved, but I’ll spare everyone this time.
I hope Brown is successful in this. I wish him the best.
Did Biden have a political Epiphany on this subject when I wasnt looking?
He’s been trying to kill SS for 40+ years
" Sherrod Brown Demands…"
Well OK then.
Maybe Sherrod gets it now:
“ Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.
- Frederick Douglass
WTF Biden, do your job. Did you like the shellacking you and Obama got in 2010?
Yes, there are many Democrats who have attacked, under-funded and wanted to gift Social Security to Wall Street.
I only pointed out that trying to kill off Social Security was the Republican Party official position literally before Donald Trump was even born.
“Did you like the shellacking you and Obama got in 2010”
Biden won by 90,000 votes, scattered across a handful of states. 2 states were as close as 10k votes. Biden did not win the Senate, its a 50-50 tie. And yet, Biden attacks a wide range of groups of voters who just elected him.
Minimum Wage workers … no pay raise for you.
Higher income working class … no stimulus checks for you
Student loan debters, which is a very large group … no debt relief for you.
Now, Seniors … Trump’s attack on Social Security remains intact.
Even if Biden had won in a landslide, this would be a questionable political strategy. But, in a country where Biden only just barely won power by a view handfuls of votes, this seems like political suicide. Biden needs to be rewarding his voters who just put him into office, not shafting them. He’s going to need them again in just a few months.
Once we get down to some of the nitty gritty we will understand why Bernie had the progressive support, not Biden.
The right-wing, corporate Democrats need a wake-up call.
I see it coming in one of two ways. First could be a wave of primary defeats of right-wing Democrats in 2022 primaries. The other could be if the Republicans split into two parties, and that finally spurs a Progressive Party to form and everyone Left-Of-Reagan walks out of the Democratic Party.
If Biden prevents both from happening, and the Democratic Party does not change, then we are back to the JFK quote … “Those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.”
All Trump holdovers in the Post Office and Social Security MUST GO. Life is so much better when we do not to hear from the orange sloth and his thugs every day.
Biden is refreshing by comparison. However, Biden has a long history of being the Banker’s friend and believing in the deficit myth, which has no basis in fact.
Good - good demand, flush 'em. But - though Trump-holdovers are the the case here - the Trump-centric focus of liberal and progressive criticism distracts from the greater issue of the Republican Party and the US right.
Remember Bush’s ‘privatize SS’ vendetta of the mid-00’s of a decade and a half ago, anyone? The attacks go back to August 14, 1935 and forward to today.
“Ever since Social Security came into existence, Republican politicians and their billionaire donors have attempted to destroy it. As an effective and incredibly popular government program, it is anathema to the GOP’s anti-government ideology.”
