Standing Up for Our Values in the Age of Trump

Rhea Suh

Donald Trump opened his presidency Friday with actions directly at odds with American values, job creation, and prosperity—actions at odds even with his own inaugural address.

Another thing that they want to obliterate? The Untied Nations!

The "American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2017" calls for the USA to withdraw from the UN.

This is real. This is an actual bill.

This is terrifying.

#3

Yes, it is terrifying, and it is up to us, the people, to put a stop to Trump's Reign of Terror.

#4

This is terrifying!!! Sounds like the purpose is to not abide by climate regulation. Also, remember he works for US!!!

It is very good to hear the thoughts of the president of the NRDC, one of the most effective agencies in safeguarding the environment. It is of crucial importance to resist and block the destructive policies of the new administration in these first 100 days or so of power. Let your congressmen know your views! For the Senate, a good place to start is https://www.senate.gov/committees/committees_home.htm. For the House, http://www.house.gov/.
"On Friday, we entered a new era of American governance led by billionaires, industrial czars, and a president who speaks of taking us back to some distant and hazily remembered past. Back to a time when nations might be isolated by oceans and walls. When entire groups of Americans might fear for their basic rights. Back to when journalists could be punished for reporting the news and American heroes falsely slandered for their views. Back to when industry could pollute our waters, air, and lands, and we had no better option for powering our country than to dig up fossil fuels and set them on fire."

We all, including environmental/animal protection groups, should have stood-up more strongly during the Obama administration to demand stronger protections and actions!
Many, including organizations like the NRDC it seems, were lulled into silence for various reasons, lauding "accomplishments" that should have been expected - many failed to see Obama was no true environmentalist, but a city-boy and tool of big-money, the fossil-fuel industry, and exploitation! The record there was very slack or non-existent in many instances/issues for a very long time, even given the organized blind (and racist) opposition of R'Con fools and charlatans! Obamas utter failure to protect endangered species especially infuriates me- wolves, wild horses, large predators, many more

Obama proved to be an environmental ignorant and failed steward whose inaction and lack of leadership was/is responsible in part for the rise of the extremist trump regime and its frightening arrogance, environmental stupidity and ignorance, and delusions of grandeur!

A mass climate march is scheduled for April 29th - another opportunity to make our voices heard to counter the extremist and delusional trump regime! - save the date!

"There is no denying it: Donald Trump’s election is a threat to the future of our planet, the safety of our communities, and the health of our families. If the policies he proposed on the campaign trail are implemented, they will destroy our climate, decimate our jobs and livelihoods, and undermine the civil rights and liberties won in many hard fought battles."

"In September of 2014, hundreds of thousands of us took to the streets of New York City for the People’s Climate March and demanded that President Barack Obama take action for climate justice before it was too late. Workers, students, human rights leaders, frontline communities, indigenous heroes: we acted together to send a message so powerful and unified the world could not ignore it."

We must make this round of climate action demands larger and louder!
