It took me a long time to get a vaccine in CA as I am not a member of a group. If you are a member of any group, low income, women, Native American, Vets, etc… The particular entities designed to serve you had excess vaccines. A medical patient I know got her vaccine a 2 months before me because her group (where she went to a medical clinic) called her and said they had it. For me I had to look at drugstores for weeks to find one and only by luck got an appointment in March. People I know in the heath field were all vaccinated way before me. Are you sure it is beneficial to discourage people by reading structural racism into everything? Wasn’t Labron James who refused to encourage blacks to get the vaccine? Wasn’t it Dray Green who said he was not getting the vaccine period, yet just a week later missed a game because of same? Kaiser had excess vaccines for its members here. For people who are not in groups it is hard. But by definition minorities are in a group and have those resources. It does not take six hours to Google Asian health centers and make a call if appropriate, etc.
I guess it’s a toss up whether people of color will die from corona or get strangled in the street by a cop.
Structural racism besets EVERYTHING.
The real minority not getting the vaccine are the 7 billion people who live outside the 10 richest countries in the world.
