Surgeon General’s Prescription for Health: Walk More

Surgeon General’s Prescription for Health: Walk More

Jay Walljasper

We’ve always known walking is good for us — it burns calories, reduces stress and helps the environment.

Peanut gallery's addendum: Drive Less.

Thank you Captain Obvious. I have been awaiting the Surgeon General's warning on meat consumption because heart attacks kill twice as many people as do cigarettes. Instead, our intrepid SG releases a report that walking is a good thing. Such courage! So progressive! We don't need no stinking warnings about meat.

Pedal powered tvs perhaps? That'll help reduce carbon emissions too!

It might be obvious, but most people don't do it. I take a three mile hike every morning with my dogs (I live in the mountains). It's a great way to start the day, and a nice time for some peaceful reflection. Saw a black bear yesterday!
