At least they had a referendum. We didn’t.
A propos, WSJ is reporting that Biden will appoint Neera Tanden to be the right wing Rottweiler on his economic team. Tanden will have one and only one role, the same one she’s had for years: to block any serious progressive change and viciously and personally attack anyone who proposes it. She is the deadly enemy of all progressives and anyone seeking economic, politicial and social change.

Swiss neutrality in WWII? Really? Where’s the morality in that?

Morality is found in the profit potential of an action.

Again, rural voters with their moronic insularity and patriarchal ideology of the Haus.

when it comes to capitalism, the Swiss have never been neutral.

They know what butters their brot. It’s almost like the Delaware of Europe.

Sounds as though selfishness, greed, and indifference prevailed once again. Another tragedy of the commons.

Nailed it! Think of all those secret Swiss bank accounts and the human scum who need them. Meanwhile, the appearance of the country and its people hides the evil beneath that finances the whole Potemkin village.
Wonder what would shake out if those secrets were revealed? I’m sure about money laundering, arms dealers, drug dealers, and all the global oligarchs.
Another bright and shining country that hides evil beneath is Singapore. Lots of dirty money becomes new and decent, meanwhile fueling a caste of ultra rich who would strip our planet bare if it meant a new private jet or set of clothes.

ya gotta admit, pictures of those pretty blondes in dirndls and the strapping boys in lederhosen hucking axes can all be very disarming. “The hills are alive…with compound interest!” was something Maria von Trapp would’ve never sung. Or would she? But that was Austria, not Switzerland, right?

Sure. Sure. :)) I’m honestly surprised the vote was that close. Musta been a couple of rustic canons that got 75% or so.

One of the rogue Swiss corporations is Nestle’ - the world’s largest food company. It has its tentacles well-secured in several states vis-a-vis the water it draws for bottling under several brand names. It appears to have a quid pro quo relationship (in California) with the U.S. Forest Service, wherein it draws tens of millions of gallons - even during drought years - and pays less than pennies on the dollar for it. Its profit on bottled water is astronomical. In effect, states like California are giving charity to Nestle which, of course, does not need it. Just before the COVID shutdown, Reps. Tlaib (MI) and Rouda (CA) had requested documents from Nestle’ Waters North America. Unknown whether they received responsive documents.

Another failed State due to the greed of a few at the expense and suffering of many. It is becoming clear that too many are simply unwilling to change or even admit there is a problem. Such addictions are unsustainable. “Lust cracks the brain.” Just look the two political parties in this country.

Neera brings to mind … ~https://i.pinimg.com/736x/2c/bb/48/2cbb48d49a3a6c69f3f7f9f92c558695.jpg

Some years ago while visiting friends in the UK, I went to an obscure village known for its sacred well and healing waters. I purchased a bottle and read the charming description, only to see ‘Nestlē’ in the fine print. Gives new meaning to the phrase, Is nothing sacred? Shows the reach of their greedy tentacles.

N-E-S-T-L-E-'S was, probably still is, going around the world buying up vast quantities of drinking water supplies. Just search that name and California or Ontario Canada. Speaking of water, the bush crime family with inside info from the cia bought a giant aquifer in Chile. Probably not by coincidence, all of these sketchy actors are tied in with the toxic polluters like Syngenta. Syn-genta, hmm, people who sin, no? Now why would the bush crime family need a giant clean water aquifer for? In Chile! Yah, and Obama turned the page on his buddy the war criminal who sits in Texas painting portraits (probably by numbers) of his toes. Good thing he only has ten toes, otherwise he’d run out of fingers to count them with.

While Flint drinks poison, Nestlé is pumping 200 gallons of fresh water out of Michigan every minute

There’s a water crisis in Flint, Michigan.

Children are being rushed to the hospital with irreversible brain damage. The federal government has declared a state of emergency, and dangerous water contamination is causing residents to go blind, develop skin lesions, and lose hair and even their memory – just from bathing in their own homes.

The entire community is living in fear – all because Governor Rick Snyder wanted to save money, and switched the city’s water supply from one of the largest and cleanest water supplies in the world to the highly corrosive Flint River.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s Governor has been cozying up with Nestlé, allowing it to pump 200 gallons of fresh water every minute out of the state’s reserves.

Nestlé is the largest owner of private water sources in Michigan – water the people of Flint sorely need – and the water-guzzling corporation has deep ties to Governor Rick Snyder’s office. This is the same office that thought nothing off undermining the public system that was supposed to keep the people of Flint safe.

Deb Muchmore, the head spokesperson for Nestlé Michigan, is married to Governor Snyder’s chief of staff. As Michael Moore wrote recently, "The Muchmores have a personal interest in seeing to it that Nestlé grabs as much of Michigan’s clean water as possible.”

Nestlé has been repeatedly sued over its aggressive acquisition of private water reserves and the alarming amounts of water it sucks out of Michigan’s ground. The multinational has been under fire in Michigan since 2003 when a judge ordered Nestlé to stop its operations due to ecological harm and a massive reduction in water levels from its operations. Even as recently as last year, Nestlé Waters CEO Tim Brown said that if he could bottle more of drought-stricken California’s water for profit, he would.

Allowing companies like Nestlé to do whatever they want comes hand in hand with undermining the public water system we rely on . Water problems across the state are due to corruption, self-interest, and putting the public’s interest last. And we’ve had enough.

We need to come together behind the people of Flint and say enough is enough.

Call on Governor Snyder to stop the privatization of Michigan’s water supply.

Why would you not want everyone to have safe pollution free air, water and land to grow food that you take into your body !!!

Its beyond me …I can only assume a mindset of primitive beings.

Obviously, this is what Biden was looking for –

Same thing re WARS – so easy to start one – so difficult to STOP them –

But all of this – (by Hemp) …

"Why would you not want everyone to have safe pollution free air, water and land to grow food that you take into your body !!!

Its beyond me …I can only assume a mindset of primitive beings."

ALL of this cuts into the profits of the wealthy who don’t give a fig about the lives and
health of others – and that’s the WHY of it.

THIS is why Capitalism is suicidal –

THIS is why we are again - after just four years – back in a fake “deep recession” which
is actually a near DEPRESSION with tens of millions on the brink of total destitution –
and who really knows how many?

THIS is what the right wing rise/fascism has been doing to the Untied States and its workers
for decades and decades now –

Using MIC/Intelligence complex to mop up all of the available taxpayer money to prevent its
being used for social needs – National Health Care, for one/MEDICARE4ALL–
and STIMULUS ’ for the nation’s workers who are suffering long term unemployment due to Covid … . our nation is being brought to the the Elite/GOP dream of a "third world America."

I know it’s just the same stuff reoccurring years after years . It’s cyclical.
