Ten Ways Israel is Just Like Saudi Arabia

Medea Benjamin

On the surface, it would seem that Saudi Arabia and Israel would be the worst of enemies and indeed, they have never had diplomatic relations. After all, the Saudis have championed the cause of the Palestinians, who are oppressed by the Israelis. Israelis say they are besieged by Muslim extremists, and many of these extremists are motivated by the intolerant, Wahhabi ideology born and bred in Saudi Arabia.

But beneath the surface, these two old adversaries actually have a lot in common and have become the strangest of bedfellows.

I appreciate the lineup. It is instructive to see these two entities paired side by side. A lack of democracy in both, could have been mentioned insofar as Israel has disenfranchised all those living in the occupied territories from being eligible to vote, has made restrictions on what a political party can advocate and still be allowed to participate in elections. While not even the facade of democracy exists in the absolute monarchy in the land called, literally in translation: Saud's Arabia. Sort of like Wall Street's America.

U. S. voters need to insist that our government totally end all military and financial aid to both countries. Hillary will never do that, she practically fellates Bibi Netanyahu, and everyone in the government kisses the ring of the Saudi "King", really a crime family boss of the highest order. The Palestinians have every right to kick the Israelis into the sea and the people of Saudi Arabia will hopefully one day successfully rise up and overthrow their crime lord family rulers.

Evil doers--KSA and Israel. Even worse, illegitimate country (Israel) and illegitimate "government" (KSA).

An excellent article and an original viewpoint, Ms. Benjamin. Thanks.

Accroding to this artcile the Panama Papers has revealed that the Saudi King helped finance Netanyahu's election campaign.

It far more venal and corrupt than we can imagine.

Another thing they both have in common is that there are people that say Saudi Arabia was behind 9/11 & there are people that say Israel was behind 9/11. If they were both behind 9/11, they could have cooperated in that. That is much more likely than Iraq cooperating with Al-Qaeda in planning 9/11.

One difference between them is that Saudi Arabia doesn't pretend it's a democracy.

What more proof do we need to quit sending both countries billions of dollars? The U.S. is complicit in their killing and domination. Forces in this country are pushing for us to be more like the two in domestic dominance and we are already guilty of invading other countries illegally.
It's up to us to vet the candidates we vote for. Ask the hard questions and make sure they know we will be watching. We have to stop the take over of local governments and turn them around. This is our job as citizens and it requires us to get active and stay that way.
