'The American People Should Be Pissed Off': Critics Say Trump Tax Dodging Exposes System Rotten to the Core

So, ya know who the swamp is?

Of the top twenty Congress persons ranked by wealth, nine are Democrats. Nancy Pelosi is third with well over 100 million. Not surprising both parties seek to build their fortunes at the expense of everyone else.

Its revealing who is saying what about trumps criminal cheating and thefts from the American people. Bernie Sanders is as usual speaking-out on the issues and remedies as they affect the nation and people; A much-needed principled voice on the criminality of trumps lies and finagling, violating his Oath of Office and using his office to profit personally and NOT paying taxes!.His evasion of military service is a similar absence of moral compass and integrity - “Bone Spurs” my ass, you scumbag! Trump has shown a pattern of criminal and moral crimes his entire life!

The unDems Nancy Pelosi talked in vague generalities as usual saying “it;s not right” - what chucky schumer asked for a “show of hands” if you “paid more than trump”, again as usual for Mr Milquetoast evading the real criminals and remedies.
The unDems should be embareassed to criticize trump & co for their crimes as many were complicit to the legislation, tax-cuts, and funding atrocities and diversion from civilian priorities like the USPS and IRS to catch and prosecute scum like trump & family!
Their open service to the rich and powerful criminal class - including themselves, and sabotaging progressive issues and politicians, like Bernie, should cause all the craven complicit to be voted OUT!.

The problem is, just like it was for the TBTF banksters, that possibly no laws were broken.

If anything, Trump didn’t want to share his tax returns because they reveal how much of his bragging about being a great businessman is bullshit. He’s a barely break-even businessman, whose daddy put him within reach of the big time real estate game. A real estate game he was so-so at. And while I have to give him credit for building a brand, its a brand based on an image and not much more. Which makes Trump’s a classic American story: Hide your grifting behind showmanship and stay one step ahead of the debt collectors and Johnny Law.

This story will make him even more popular with his base. Bonnie & Clyde became folk heroes, Capone too. Everybody in Trump world loves it when the IRS looks stupid.

Spiro Agnew had to step down from the vice presidency for tax evasion/ Precedents must have more power that Presidents – we must demand it.

Have a read of this: ‘Corporatism and the Ghost of the Third way’
+ttp://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.693.939&rep=rep1&type=pdf
(In particular ‘Mussolini’s Corporatist Epiphany’.)

Then hopefully you will see that ‘Fascism’ and ‘Corporatism’ would not really be compatible with the aims of free market/neo liberal capitalism as carried in the U.S (noting the ‘state control’ element in ‘Corporatism’). Nor would ‘Corporatism’ be something that those with the most wealth and power would have the slightest interest in when how things currently work to increase their wealth suit them quite nicely.

Outside of economic matters, general terms such as ‘authoritarianism’ or ‘despotism’* will have more resonance with those that you may wish to influence that continually pulling ‘Fascism’ out of the ‘dustbin/trashcan’ of history.

Thank you for denouncing rumpdump as vociferously and knowledgeably as you do. Your occasional criticisms of Biden demonstrate, moreover, that you are not just another “Blue No Matter Who” sycophant. Let’s hope that enough USians loathe the orange-tinted narcissistic idiot enough to get off the couch and vote for Biden in November.

I think - more likely - that laws were broken, but the punishment for breaking them is so ridiculous that you might as well go ahead and do that because you profit more than the punishment costs you. This is especially true if you have no shame to hold you back.

Recall Anatole France’s famous quote “In its majestic equality, the law forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, beg in the streets and steal loaves of bread,” and think about the converse.

The severe punishments for the crimes of the poor don’t affect the rich just as the lenient punishments for the crimes of the rich are unavailable to the poor. Trump isn’t smartly avoiding breaking the law - he is smartly knowing which ones to break.

Well there’s the reason Trump keeps claiming, “it’s out of his hands, he can’t release his tax forms.”

Don’t think the wealthy have a problem with this. If Trump’s avoidance of paying taxes is legit, then this system was created by design. It’s the one they want.

Mind you, Ordinary Joe can be denied a security clearance (for a 9-5 job/better pay, etc.) if he has too much debt. Apparently that rule doesn’t apply to the president of the USofA, most powerful position in the world. And the taxpayers, paying their fair share of taxes, are going to have to foot the bill for Trump&Family security detail for the rest of his life. That oughta keep the foreign (and domestic) debt collectors away. That silver spoon is by no means tarnished. One thing Trump does have is an abundance of dumb luck.

IRS officials have said that, despite Trump’s claim, a person can indeed release his tax returns while those documents are being audited. And for some unknown reason, no reporter has brought this up to Trump during one of his news conferences.

Voting is now useless and has been since 2000.

Guillotines are now a necessity.

I’m serious.

It’s not cheating because it’s legal. It’s legal because the tax laws were written by politicians whose election campaigns were paid by big business and the elite, but who were elected by American voters.

Hi Shantiananda:
Is there really a thing called Presidential Immunity? Even Nixon had to deal with Ford----so with all the things that Nixon did-------WHY wasn’t he in jail? I suppose Ford thought that if something bad happened to Nixon, then America would look ba/? America has looked bad for a very long time. Sometimes I think it would be better if this nation junked the Statue of Liberty----and replaced her with Rumplestiltskin. : (

I’m probably angrier that the NYTimes is getting credit as the grand trumpeter of the truth while Asssnge, the revealer of atrocious war crimes committed during a war the NYT endorsed, is suffering torture and kangaroo courts. Just as Trump will suffer no consequences for his grifting, nor shall the NY Times suffer for being a mouthpiece for the MIC.

Hopefully Cheeto Benito, the ultimate upwards failure, and his backbench grifter crime family will go the way of Al Capone - busted for taxes. I have no faith in justice for his actual crimes against humanity.

Sociopaths are a small minority. A poor person suddenly becoming wealthy would defy all odds by becoming as evil as Trump. So, no - we’re not all like that. Back to the topic - the emperor has no clothes.
