The Big Pharma Family that Brought Us the Opioid Crisis

Sam Pizzigati

If the devil wears Prada, what do America’s most destructive drug pushers wear? They wear smiles. The drug pushers we have in mind here have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, enough fatalities to decrease overall U.S. life expectancy at birth for the last two years running.

On a tangential note, I’ll remark that one major underlying message of the corner-to-corner “competition” between CVS and Walgreens is the subliminal suggestion that “You Need Drugs”.

Whether it’s big-pharma or the NRA giving big-money to politicians to support or turn a blind-eye sell their deadly products, the common denominator is vulture capitalism’s profits above people - above ALL else! - subverting representative democracy until it is a corrupt fraud! Partially thanks to the complicit scotus “citizens united” that must be overturned!

Big-pharma sells dangerous deadly drugs to seniors and at-risk kids with death the result in both cases. The NRA protects gun manufacturers to produce and sell new weapons - military high-capacity, high-power assault rifles. BOTH groups protect and put profits ahead of our children/students lives and those hooked on big-pharma junk - and politicians of BOTH parties do their bidding!! That reality includes the fossil-fuel industry, big-ag polluters, so may corporate entities that bribe politicians to serve them, NOT the people!

It’s politicians corrupted by big-money, that serve death ad profits ahead of the health and safety of America and our citizens - above ALL ELSE!!

I have been using hillybilly heroin, oxycodone, for 7 years now. I am “tolerant” but not “addicted”. Until I can get a prescription for MM or Kartom I am running the risk of dying. I don’t mind really, it’s better than the pain. The problem is other people don’t know how to use it or about pain management so the rules and reg.s controlling my habit are a very big hassle. The song and dance is a joke, as are the doc.'s attitudes towards people that have to take the drug. They become control freaks, geez. The government here in AZ watches everything like a hawk and they should because doc.'s aren’t explaining what pain management is. It is make the pain go away, it is make it so I can at least move around. So people do stupid things that make them die. Dumb doc.'s, dumb people equals dead citizens. Are the big pharma people responsible? YES. Are they held accountable? NO. I would love to sue them for my addiction, ya right buddy, got boats full of money? no…and, so it goes…

Brought to us by the same folks who pushed for Romney/OB “Care” - Big Pharma and the medical/industrial/academic complex.

#6

Here we go again.

Chronic pain patients everywhere thank you for frigging helping to murder us with your Nancy Reaganesque rambling.

#7

the biggest problem is that they’re conflating all patients as being in the same class, when that couldn’t be further from the truth.

There are 3 classes of oxy users, and only 2 are problems. The third, however, is the one that’s paying the bills for this latest incarnation of the war on feeling better.

Rec users (the imbeciles that drive every bad drug law), short term pain patients (the ones most in danger from unnecessary addiction and the class that needs by far the most oversight), and chronic pain patients.

So what do they do to demonstrate that they’re trying to “solve” the “problem”? The cut the medications of the last group. Wer’re the only ones they can really touch.

Love the 2nd to last line.
"Behind every great fortune lurks a crime"
Call me a socialist, but many of our problems could be controlled by nationalizing these businesses.
Oil and gas, mining, big pharma, ect. These corp’s have proven over and over they don’t give a dam about the people or the environment, just money.

#9

This demonstrates to me the exact reason there’s a war on illicit drugs and why it should end. Legalizing all illicit drugs wouldn’t create anymore addicts than already exist, but it would put a major dent in Big Pharma’s bottom line.

#10

I’ll call you a socialist because it’s a great compliment.

And why is the bulk of big Pharma against medical cannabis? As well as politicians that benefit from pharma? Because it will seriously drain their profits, and illustrate how toxic their products are.

“Adding cannabis to opioids makes the opioids safer. Cannabis can prevent opioid tolerance building and the need for dose escalation. Cannabis can treat the symptoms of opioid withdrawal. And cannabis is safer than other harm reduction options for people that are addicted or dependent on opioids.”

Oh man what a nightmare, it’s pitch black for me. Thanks drone.

#13

I think so also.

A most informative article by Pizzigati. That company Purdue should be sued for the deception is practiced for decades, but it won’t happen. A company with ethical leadership would withdraw the product from the market.

More than citizens united. We have to literally put laws on the books and put them in at the lowest grass roots level capping our politicians from taking large donations and penalizing them with prison if they do. We do it from the bottom up pulling the ground out from under them. Make it illegal to even run if they’ve accepted large donations in the past. Put in collusion laws with mandatory minimum prison sentences for even being involved with someone their voting power in legislature and decisions on panels effects. Do it at the state level and it affects everyone in politics that comes from the states - congress. Do it for judges too.

And, just because we can, cap them at $27. We can get anything we want if we collect 10,000 signatures in every state to get the law on the ballots and go out and vote for it.

I wish I could edit my previous post, but here is the one man-child in congress, throwing his own little legislation temper tantrum, and giving the off-gases to all Americans, most importantly, those that are ill and dying.

So it comes as little surprise that his #1 contribution is from:
----Paragon Healthcare

But maybe it is not that, but his own early 20th century reefer madness, which he shares with AG Mr. Keebler, no relation though it looks as if genetics, that contribute to defective thinking/logic, and a hatred/distrust of scientific fact, are in play.

https://www.23andme.com/. can we have a citizens request fulfilled?

Instead of us being tested for non pharma drugs, that then sends us to the unemployment line, or to prison (thank you Ronnie Reagan, you golden shower queen) can we have-- like a reverse forcible medical test on those that rule over us, to see if they suffer from a shared genetic code, the possible common denominator of their psychopathy?

A war on drugs waged against the poor

A war of drugs waged against the populace

#18

Absolutely! I do a not of inter-city driving, in the course of which I pass through relatively small towns (5-10,000 population. Many of them feature the Deadly Drug Duo that you mention on opposing
corners, like boxers in their respective corners. And, many of them are open 24/7!

#19

Call me a Socialist, and I will thank you for the compliment!
