'The DNC Is on the Wrong Side of History': Challenged by Activists, Tom Perez Says Hosting 2020 Debate on Climate Crisis 'Not Practical'

She may not now, but she might if she were barely polling and trying to attract attention. I mean, calling for debates is an ancient campaign tactic at this point. You simply cannot deny this. It happens every election.

Bottom line: this was an attention seeking stunt by the Inslee campaign, looking to get its candidate a venue to discuss its “core issue” and gain attention. Online petitions are a dime a dozen, activists always “want” stuff. I never asserted the debate idea was all Inslee’s either, just that the latest outrage fest was due to a stunt by his campaign.

Yeah, damn peasants. Wanting “stuff” like a planet to live on. Better the elites give us our talking points, huh?

The DP is democratic if you are a billionaire. Because, the Dems are first and foremost of party of capitalists. They don’t represenent you. Unfortunatly, the “base” hasn’t figured that out.

Sure, if that’s what you want.

The problem with making fake excuses is when you aren’t any good at it. It is obvious that they are doing this to prevent any serious discussion of global warming because that would reflect poorly on The Anointed One because his record and his policies on dealing with the climate crisis are pitiful. While it may be legitimate that they can’t fit it into their debates, the fact that they won’t let the candidates participate in ANY debate on the climate crisis screams from the rooftops that they are trying to stifle any conversation of the topic. They surely are not so stupid that they don’t realize this, but a replay of 2016 apparently is not a problem for them. After all, 2018 brought in all those upstarts who demanded a place at the table. Much better to lose to the repugs than have to actually deal with representatives who work for the people.

Kamala Harris would be strong in a debate where the focus is prosecutorial discretion? I guess if you ignore Kamala’s prosecutorial history. Kamala’s prosecutorial history is one of the greatest complaints against her.

Castro wouldn’t do “very well” in any debate. He is polling at less than 1%.

This shows just how easily great civilizations collapse. When protecting your hold on power is more important than finding solutions to the serious and life threatening issues facing your society, that society will fail. That is where we are. This is an existential crisis we face quite possibly leading to the end of life as we know it on this particular rock, but it is “not practical” to even discuss it? That is nothing but a corrupt attempt to stifle the economic, political and social changes demanded by this for humans to even have a chance at survival. Perez and his cronies know how serious this is but it is their choice to not only do nothing but also to block those who do want to take serious action. They must be held accountable for their actions.

Harris was criticized wrongly and ignorantly mainly over two cases: the crime lab case in San Francisco and OneWest. She was a pretty competent Attorney General and the “she’s a cop” critiques aren’t worth discussion.

Classic troll behavior: Just keep repeating your refuted claim.

Doesn’t matter what the replies are: JUST KEEP REPEATING YOUR REFUTED CLAIM.

Well, you’ve repeated yourself plenty. Are you a troll? This wouldn’t even be a “controversy” if not for Inslee’s Wednesday splash announcement. Pretty interesting that the Washington state Party Chair organized a petition after it too. They probably don’t know each other, right? Clearly not an attention seeking gambit by the Inslee campaign that’s driving this latest controversy we all need to be angry about.

I left the Dems in 2004 after John Kerry failed to challenge a SECOND stolen election, and have been a Green every since. Why are Democrats so afraid to leave the Democratic Party? With cowards like Tom Perez and Nancy Pelosi running the Party (on orders from the Clintons), we’re screwed. Our children and grandchildren will curse us for failing to rebel against them, and I don’t think we will have GREATgrandchildren because the human race will be extinct by then. If we don’t have massive change within the next decade, we are doomed as a species.

That is interesting - I didn’t realize until you posted this that Tina Podlodowski initiated the DNC petition. I had thought the DNC initiative was started earlier because of the Youth petition mentioned in the CD story a month ago.

Don’t really get sarcasm, do you?

“Not practical.” How convenient — for Perez and his corrupt business-as-usual corporate cronies.

Also, Perez’s arrogant sneer sounds a lot like “not pragmatic” — as when Sanders and other progressives propose any policy outside the corporate Dem party line.

That’s the story of the DLC and how it came into the Dem Party …

Clintons were recruited by Koch Bros for the DLC … along with numerous
other Southerners to sell the Dem Party off - in toto to corporations.

and they were recruited by the Koch Bros. and other large corporations –
Their representatives took up positions on the Executive Board of the DLC chaired
by Joe Liebermann.

Will try to get more info to you – but it’s an OLD story which should by now be well
known.

Koch Bros. own the Dem Party and the GOP –

Expensive inconvenient half-baked ideas proposed as solutions.
1 Daimler EV Truck 550kwh battery pack
6 Tesla ‘S’ sport sedan 85kwh pack
100 plug-in hybrid 5kwh pack matched to smaller rooftop solar.
100mpg average to 200+mpg possible on biofuels cleanly.
Hydrogen stores at lower pressure for hybrid use than for fuel cell. The inconvenient truth: plug-in hybrids have more potential to reduce fuel/energy consumption than all-battery EVs. Big rig trucks should go hybrid. New EV buses we’re getting are lousy conversions of old crappy frames, suspension and drive train. The Inconvenient Truth. GM & Ford could be sued.
